Some stores sell fertile chicken eggs because some people think they are more nutritious. They may be more nutritious than the average egg, if only because the chickens are running around scratching for food instead of immobilized in a tiny cage to lay eggs. The fact that they are fertilized by a rooster is not a factor. You can tell the egg is fertile because of a blood spot where the embryo is starting to develop.
It is also true that some people, especially in Asia, eat eggs that have developed almost to hatching. They may be sold in Asian markets as "balut" or "chicken embryo." I'm told it is best to eat these in the dark (if you are squeamish).

Yes, i can eat up to 3 fertilized hen or duck eggs in one sitting.
This is how British journalist Matthew Sutherland describes "Balut"
" I have now been in this country for over six years, and consider myself in most respects well-assimilated. However, there is one key step on the road to full assimilation which I have yet to take, and that's to eat BALUT.
The day any of you see me eating balut, please call immigration and ask them to issue me a Filipino passport, because at that point there will be no turning back. BALUT, for those still blissfully ignorant non-Pinoys out there, is a fertilized duck egg. It is commonly sold with salt in a piece of newspaper, much like English fish and chips, by street vendors usually after dark, presumably so you can't see how gross it is. It's meant to be an aphrodisiac, although I can't imagine anything more likely to dispel sexual desire than crunching on a partially-formed baby duck swimming in noxious fluid. The embryo in the egg comes in varying stages of development, but basically it is not considered macho to eat one without fully discernable feathers, beak, and claws. Some say these crunchy bits are the best. Others prefer just to drink the so-called 'soup', the vile, pungent liquid that surrounds the aforementioned feathery fetus...excuse me, I have to go and throw up now.I'll be back in a minute. "
Some can eat it, some don't. I belong to those who can.

Yes you can eat as many fertil eggs as long as a chicken hasn't been sitting on them, developing a chick.
You cant even tell if an egg is fertil, until a chicken sits on it for a while.
So yes eat them
=)

The eggs you buy in a grocery store are unfertilized. You can eat your hens' eggs as soon as you gather them. You don't have to wait until the eggs have been refrigerated.

to check if the egg is fertilized, shine a light through the egg. If you see a dark form in the egg, it is fertilized. Also, if the egg id recently laid, crack it open and there will be a bloodspot in the egg.
