My dog is a Jack Russle named Boats, and he is hyper but he's been doing pretty good. Still playful, and full of life. Well two days ago, he got the rabies vaccination, and I got rid of our cat we've had for a year. That night he usually sleeps in the bed with me.... he won't even jump on the bed. like right now his front paws are down like he's trying to lay down, but his hine legs are straight up, like it's hard for him to sit down. I thoguht at first he was depressed about the cat going, the fact we're moving in two days so alot is going on, or the fact that my boyfriend, has been overseas for 8 months, so I thought with everything he was depressed. Now he was fine until that day, and now he shakes and I noticed he won't jump in my lap, or the bed, which is VERY unusual. And now for the first time, he whimpers at me to let him go outside. Please is there anything anyone can suggest, like is this a side effect to the vacination or is it just with everything going on, he's sad???

That definitely requires a visit to the vets office. It doesn't sound like a side effect of the vaccination. It sounds like his back end or tummy is hurting. My suspicions are that it may be a luxating patella or a bad tummy ache.

As far as I know there's two potential side effects to the rabies vaccine.

1) A small firm lump can form in the skin and cause discomfort in the dog. This usually clears after a few days but it's a good idea to talk to your vet. You might want to check and see if there's any abnormalaties in the area where he had the injection.

2) A second side effect is much more serious but probably not the case, this is anaphalaxis. An allergic reaction that manifests within a few minutes to a few hours. You would know if it was this serious right off the bat though.

I would bring your concerns to your veternarian (a phone consultation may be all that's needed) and see what's going on.

I would be concerned about the fact that he is having a hard time sitting/lying down, that is not just depression. It could be a reaction to the vaccine, but it could also be something else.
Take him to the vet, because with so much going on, it could have been easy for you to miss other symptoms.

canines balls...the domestic dog's self-properly worth? Ha! The damn issues are plastic and the animal gets no earnings on having them in his scrotum. The vet offered you a invoice of products so he ought to benefit out of your lack of wisdom. And if it became into your theory to have them implanted he ought to have tried to dissuade you. canines (rather puppies) have not have been given any inkling of what befell in the vet's workplace different than he fell asleep and has some discomfort down with the aid of his penis. yet he does experience much less aggressive and now the mutt around the line does not look lots of achieveable to him. bypass to him and have the canines dealt with for the inflammation and swelling, in case you nevertheless have faith him. solid success J

When my dog did this -- postured with his front low and his hind end UP -- I took him to the vet and he was VERY SICK. He had pancreatitis, a SERIOUS illness. I guess for some reason, posturing like that makes them feel better.

I can see you have a lot going on in your life right now, but you'd better get your dog to a vet -- and PRONTO.

Good luck.

it could be either one,but I am leaning toward the rabies vaccine the most, cause you had to be moving things around before the vaccine right so I would consult the place where you got the shot.

Call a vet right now tonight, they should be able to tell you if he should be brought in now or if it can wait till morning. Sounds like he's in pain so I wouldn't put it off.
