Sprinkle Bicarbinate of Soda over your carpet, leave for a couple of hours then hoover it up. It will absorb all the odours and is completely harmless to your pets. A lot of pets are allergic to shake and vac so I wouldn't recomend that.

If its cat or dog pee Bicarbonate soda with cold water it also removes the stains. Dont panic the smell goes once it's dry. So whatever you do dont throw chemicals or hot water at it, wait until it drys. If its just smelly..old dog smell use a carpet moose that you hoover or shake/vac.

you can get a dog deodorant that can be used on your dog and as an air freshner for your house - fabrics carpets etc - I use it for the house and it is great just gives a fresh smell not over powering...
give it a try :) I got it from Acorn Pet stores for £3.75 it's made by Johnsons

As like Cassie B, we changed from carpets to laminate floors, you can daily, as we do disinfect and clean and keep the freshness there, carpets do harbour more than your dogs undesirables. All fabrics do including suites/sofa's etc.
My problem: my wife is all over the floor as well!! difficult keeping it clean!! Only a joke, sorry if you're not amused!!

Well, if you want to try to do it yourself, then I suggest using Nature's Miracle...
If you are wanting to have your carpets professionally cleaned then I recommend Chem Dry and have them do a pet treatment on the carpets also.
Good luck.

Get rid of the carpet and lay laminate flooring. Animal smells will not go away. You will get used to them because you live there but visitors will instantly know.
