My Miniature fox terrier just had a litter of 4 pups and they seem to be health. My question was that is it necessary for me to bottle feed the pups or should I just let the mother do her thing. I checked to see if her nipples would excrete milk and they seem to work. If I would need to bottle feed the pups what kind of formula should I use?

Let the mom do it. Start weaning them about 4 weeks of age. E-mail me at baby_7991@yahoo.com with any questions. I can help you wean them, so e-mail me at 4 week also and I can help.

If teh pups have full bellies let mom take care of them. 4 is a slightly small litter so she should be fine.
If you feel they need to be fed by bottle go to the pet store and get teh puppy bottles and the puppy replacement formula.
Good luck and if you have any other questions email me at kathy_decaprio@yahoo.com

Let nature take its course. The mom will likely supply them with everything they need. If they do appear to not be getting nourished, you can buy Esilbac at any pet store and hand feed them with a bottle.

As long as mom has plenty of milk, you don't need to supplement the puppies. Beyond that, mom may stop producing milk and you certainly don't want that to happen. If they start acting hungry all the time, crying, etc. then you may need to give them some formula. The best one I've used so far is Nurturall liquid.

I think they are considered a newborn up until about 4 weeks or a month old.

no, you do not bottle feed them unless the mother cannot, otherwise they will not feed from the mother. Mother nature takes care of her own. Let nature take its course.

you should be weighing them every day, so you should know if they are getting enough.

I would suggest you get her spayed asap to avoid this happening again.
