I was reading an old newspaper article dated about 1910 and it listed the color of a room as "ashes of roses." I love the sound of this but what color is it. A link to a website that shows this color would be great or just a good description would be helpful.

I am re-tiling my bathroom for the first time. I have picked off all the old tiles(lovely pink flowery ones!!) and quite a lot of the plaster behind cam off as well. There is also the old Old tiles up halfway border style that are on some kind of cement base that sticks out by 10-12mm. These tiles are not easily removed so i am plasterboarding the top half of the wall to eliminate the gap and cover bad plaster. Once that is done, Is there a particular spot you should start? Does it depend where is first in your eyeline as you walk in, or is there a spot thats best to avoid cutting too many tiles? Any advice will be much apreciated!!

I'm planning on redecorating our spare bath in a unisex children's theme. I want something child-like but not too cutesy because guests also use this bathroom. Also, I would prefer not to use any wallpaper or border.

I would love any ideas and photos/links to photos would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a 20 year old microwave and I'm finally upgrading to an over-the-range model. However, I WANT it to vent to the outside. My regular range hood vent re-circulates through a filter and it has never done a good job. And since the range is on an outside wall, it shouldn't be too difficult to vent to the outside. I've set off the smoke detector countless times just by sauteeing something, so I'm figuring venting to the outside would avoid that.

I've checked out over-the-range microwaves and have gotten different opinions on venting to the outside. Some stores say YES, you should and they will, others say NO they never vent to the outside.

So, I'm looking for other opinions and would love to know the actual REASONS for venting (or not venting) to the outside. Thank you!

I reside in NYC and I'm looking for a store I can buy a black or dark wood chest/dresser for under $100. I would consider purchasing something and staining or painting it myself though it would be better if it was already the desired color. I'll also consider ordering online if there isn't a place around here to buy one from though I don't really want to pay for shipping. I've looked at Ikea, Target, Kmart and Walmart but they don't have anything under $100.

Thanks

We are trying to sell our home, and I truly believe that the color of my carpet is back in style. The husband wants to spend the $$$ and replace it with a safe neutral. Either way, someone may hate it. I just want to know what's IN and what's OUT.

Which do you prefer leading out to a Florida Room with a water view. I think the sliding glass door will make the view easier to see.

I am going to be selling my home soon. When you are shopping for homes, do you pay a lot of attention to the colors of the walls, or do you figure that you will be painting them your own colors anyway? The reason I ask, my husband wants to repaint the entire house before we sell, and I think it is fine. The kitchen is a little dark, a taupe color, and our bedroom is an army green color. Should we repaint in lighter colors??
