We just bought expensive black leather furniture that we love so much. and now with job reassignment we had to move into an older country farm house with brown wood panelling, it's honestly hideous but we can't paint it or remodel it and it's light brown with dark brown molding at the top and bottom. I am horrible at decorating but I really would like for it to look nice. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this room work and not have to spend hundreds of dollars?

Hi guys,

I just moved in to a house (will only be here a year) but my room is pretty small. Heck, perhaps I would consider it tiny.

It should be around 100 sq ft.

I have a Full Bed, and am planning to purchase a new desk.

Are there any ideas as to what I could do to make the room look a tad more spacious and at the same time a contemporary yet clean bedroom that will also serve as a study area.

I really enjoy black and white photography, but I don't know how frames on the wall will make my room look more spacious.

I bought some new furniture recently that completely does not match the color of the walls that the old owners had painted in my family room. There is a chair railing so they had two different colors on top and bottom (see pictures below). I don't mind the idea of having two different colors.

The theme I would ultimately like to go for would be a sort of "British West Indies" (I think), and none of the current tables, etc. has to stay (I had planned on buying new ones anyway). There is a picture that I like and I took a photo of it (see below). I do not think the greens in it match the new furniture at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what colors to paint the walls?

Hi guys, I recently signed a 12 month lease for a house. I was wondering if I'm able to paint the walls of the house.

I'm thinking light contemporary colors, nothing dark.

The lease did not prohibit the painting of the walls, nor did it condone it.

Am I safe to paint the house, and then paint it back upon moving out?

I have a collection of playing card decks. I would like to display some of the most unique decks the main room of my house, but this presents a problem. The more unique decks have a different picture on the face of each card, and in order to really show these decks off, people would at least need to be able to browse them.

So, any suggestions on how to display card decks?

We've got this textured wall that the previous owners did. It looked like they did it to avoid properly taping and prepping the drywall for paint. It was not done well. We painted over it a couple of years ago to see what kind of effect it would have, but it didn't help. We want to get rid of the the texture entirely. Other than plastering it all with drywall compound (which would be extremely time consuming), what can we do? Keep in mind that it has a few layers of paint on it.

I've just painted a bedroom that was a dark blue on the bottom and a light blue on the top. The colour of the paint is a burnt umber/rust orange. I've just painted the second coat, but it obviously needs a third to cover the dark blue section. How long does the paint need to dry before I can paint the third coat?

I'm surprising my parents by painting one of their bathrooms while they are away. I'm pretty sure they used a matte paint before and it's peeling up like crazy. When I started sanding the little pieces that were already peeling came off but not the rest, so now it is all uneven. What do I do to get everything even/off again before I paint to make it look smooth? I'm using a semi-gloss this time around.. I asked the home depot guy. Should I be using a primer? What did I get myself into... haha

There's a lot of different brands of paint and I would like to know if there is much difference between them. Some of the brands I have come accross here in New Zealand include Dulux, Ace, British Paints, Resene. Is any one of them better than the others or any of them particularly bad and should be avoided? I will be painting interior walls, ceilings and trim.

This light was kind of like a nightstand in brians bedroom. It was basically one big plastic box that completly lit up. It was just a big white cube. It was made of some type of hard product because you could set something on it. I cannot locate something like this anywhere. Please help with a website or something.

I like a pale blue, but it's a little too ordinary for me. I also like a purple because it would match this quilt cover, which I like.

in pink/multicolor.
I'm open to more colors though, (except yellow and pink) if anyone has any suggestions or opinions. Thanks!

It's called the "Paris slum apartment".
Now here's where I need your help: what do I put in it to give it some old Parisian charm? The building is technically an antique, it's 100 years old. There are some thin exposed pipes running along one side of the bedroom wall. The light fixtures used to have gas running through them. The radiators are beautifully ornate. The ceilings are very high. Hardwood floors.

My son wants a Spiderman room and I am doing my best to find anything with Spiderman. My daughter is getting a Disney Princess room and Home Depot sells a princess door to install for her bedroom door. Has anyone ever seen any stores sell a spiderman door. I know we will have to change it later on and that's okay. Also, do you know where they sell a lot of spiderman decor?

We just put an offer on a house that we absolutely love other then the bathroom. The current bathroom is dated with robin egg blue tub, toilet and sink, what color walls would look good with this blue other then white? We are going to be working on a tight budget for awhile until I finish school so having them refinished is out of the picture for now any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The tub is still in great shape other then the color.
