I'm painting my bedroom a light brown color.
The bedroom is set up so that when you walk in, there are windows straight ahead, the headboard is against the wall on the right and the dresser is across from the windows. A TV will be hung on the remaining wall across from the bed. I don't think I should paint ALL of them. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks to HGTV I love the loud mix of colors. My home has dark plum purple on one side and a burnt orange/honey mustard on the opposite side. Everyone is shocked and then say wow that looks great, would never have thought to put those colors together. Bedroom will be wine and possibly a pale military green.

I am moving into my first apartment by myself in a few weeks. Its a one bedroom, and the guy who rented before is leaving a lot of his things (bed, entertainment center, kitchen table, etc). What is some advice, or things I need to buy in order to have a gorgeous apartment that I will love?
Thanks everyone!!

I have just moved into a new home and am trying to make it pretty without spending fortune as im on unpaid maternity leave at the mo. The kitchen walls are really bad and really need replastering but i cant afford it just now. Is there anything else i could do? i tried white paint , and am thinking of textured paint but it would need to be really textured , thought bought tiling but is huge kitchen and also its a really old house and there is pipework running everywhere. Is there anything i haven't thought of that i could try?

I just bought a house, and intend on doing some things that will increase it's appraisal value by the time I am ready to sell it. This way, I can pay the house off and still have enough for a good down payment on a future house. Any suggestions? (i.e. patio, hardwood floors, landscaping...etc)

Master bedroom closet needs more storage. Could use either clothes rods or shelves. I have cubbies for shoes, I am planning on placing cubbies just below closet window. I want to make use of space in front of window, from top of cubbies to just below ceiling. Access to window not important. I have Closetmaid wire shelves and hanging rods. The cubbies are made of laminate wood. Anyone know how to span window without a major redo? I appreciate the help. Thank you.

Hey everyone. I am looking for a new comforter because the one I have has about had it. Anyways, I have been looking for a reversible one that is solid on one side and a pattern on the other. I found this really cool one on sears.com, although I have not seen it in person. I was wondering if anyone has it or anyone knows about it or works at Sears, and knows about it. Anyways, the site says that it's reversible. I know that on one side it is stripes, but I don't know whats on the other side. Ok. Can anyone tell me if you know whats on the other side? ? Thanks .... here's the link.... and email me @ modelqueen13@yahoo.com if you know

I want to install a hickory hardwood floor in a kitchen with all oak trim, doors and cabinets. The oak is all clear finished (no stain) as will be the hickory. I'm tired of looking at oak, but concerned about how it will look to mix the woods. Also I plan to install a new kitchen island. Any advice on the finish for that cabinet? i.e. oak or hichory, stain or paint?

Okay, this whole thing is stupid, but I'm gonna ask anyway. I want all the rooms in my house to be brightly coloured and vibrant, so I was going to paint my living room hot pink, but I've decided to do my kitchen that colour so I can't now. I just can't decide how to do my living room? I want a colour that's bright but won't get annoying when I'm trying to relax (like orange or red) but not something cold (like blue or green). It's yellow now, so I can't choose that colour. I also need a carpet to match, but not cream or anything pale like that, because I have a child. I was thinking maybe a mix of different colours, but I'm no good at knowing that stuff and I'm afraid it'll look like a rainbow exploded in there. Iknow it's a stupid query, but I'd really appreciate some advice :)

Thanks

This is for a birthday present. The person likes candles. I want to get her some kinda scented candles and a cool stand for them...you know, maybe something antique/ancient looking, maybe something postmodern looking...but it had to look stylish. For example:
http://www.heritagearcade.com/states/jandk/gifs/candle-stand-rope-design-zoom.jpg
that...is very cool.

I've been to 2 candle stores in the area but they have nothing but candles themselves...all colors/sizes/scents...but that's ALL they have. Where can i get this type of stand?

My living room is 14x25' and the carpet is dark grey. Ideas please? I love that steel blue color but I need some light colors too.

I ordered a patio screen door from Home Depot & can't figure out how to adjust it on the track. The old one had a screw on each side at the bottom & the new does not have this & no instructions. There seems to be screws in side the frame part. One at the bottom & one at the top on each side. How do you adjust these so the screen door will slide properly.

they will only build their houses on a wood foundation. my boyfriend refuses to have a house built unless it is on a cement foundation. is it legal for us to take the floor plan that these people designed and have someone else build it that would be willing to use a concrete foundation?
