It's called the "Paris slum apartment".
Now here's where I need your help: what do I put in it to give it some old Parisian charm? The building is technically an antique, it's 100 years old. There are some thin exposed pipes running along one side of the bedroom wall. The light fixtures used to have gas running through them. The radiators are beautifully ornate. The ceilings are very high. Hardwood floors.

Oh Gosh.. I just accidentally deleted my long answer now I have to retype....geez...

Okay...here's the short version

- Run ivy or philodendron up the pipes (if they don't get hot)

- Go for jewel tones of dark purple, dark red, magenta and teal and use with shinny golds where possible (not the funky yellow that is sometimes called gold)

-definitely beads....but you can hang them in a window rather than in a doorway which always gets in your way.

- Check out some pics of belly-dancer outfits to get ideas.....

- Get some large rope-style tie backs with large tassels to decorate walls, frame mirrors...etc.

- drape a large sheer fabric in the corner from ceiling to both walls.

- Use lots of pillows.

-here's a link to the inside of I Dream of Jeannie's bottle....

- Brass incense and knick knacks.

- Check out a local thrift store on a discount day.

- Velvet, sheers, satins....

ooohhh...that sounds pretty! I think I might do a room like this!
:-) Have fun.

er, an old Parisian?

If someone lives in Paris, are they a Paris-ite?

Why do you want to live in a Paris, Texas slum anyway?

Lots of glass beads hanging in doorways and from pipes....fabrics draped artistically work too...then there's clutter....you need to clutter tables and exhibition areas........incense..yes incense! I can smell it now......mixed with tobacco and perfume! Ah! What memories you shocked me into recalling :)
