Stay away from any baby pink and baby blue is probably the only rule. Choose neutral color to reflect the room as belonging to both of you, neither too feminine nor masculine.

Bone whites, beige tones, yellows and greens are favorites.

You ,and him can go here ,and play around with different colors ,I really can not give a professional opinion as there are so many shades of the colors you mentioned , beside , interior colors are another form individuality ,and self expression . I could not decide how to paint the kids room , most recommended colors were ugly in my opinion , so I went with white , then allowed them to pick up to ten of the colors they liked from a Walt Disney color selection , I bought all ten colors in the quart size , covered the room very well in plastic , poured the individual colors in to a balloon ( kind of like water balloons) let the children throw the balloons against the wall they now have splashes of their favorite colors in their rooms , and even the furnishing from an antique store fit in wonderfully , anyway enough babbling , I been up too long , here is the place to play ...http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/

Soothing colours are good in the bedroom, earth tones for example are calming for many people. Putting neutral tones on the walls is a safe way to go, you can always add accent colour in the fabrics - pillows, window covers, throws etc. Remember that the colour on a small paint sample will intensify when it's a large area, such as a wall.

Our local paint store has an excellent service - you can bring in a favourite item (perhaps a pillow sham for the bedroom), and they will suggest wall colours to match. It's free, and it's still your choice whether you go with their suggestions.

Sounds like you are trying to pelase a guy here, if so pink is probably not the best choice. Rooms do not have to be the same color throught the house. Each room can be a 'themed' room, meaning one is pink ie girl babies room, blue ie boys baby room, etc, etc. Just pick something that is fairly neutral or is a 'theme'. Like at the beach house I was just, at all the bathrooms were painted like beach scenes.

Browns, beiges, dark greens, and very dark burgandy reds are all nice in the bedroom. You don't want anything bright or flashy, subdued is best. I'd definitely stay away from anything orange, yellow, pink, purple, or prime.

Black is the one that works for me.

Some of my favourite rooms are black and you will have the advantage of knowing few if any of your friends would dare to copy your choice in colour.

That really depends on your taste. Just remember that it's something you have to live with for a while. I would personally pick yellow.
