my granite was installed and sealed. it is 4 yrs old and we have never "resealed"it because some people say its not good for the stone. but lately it feels more gritty and porous. can it be buffed shiny and smooth?

I am building a new house. We are going to have Red Oak cabinets with a Red Oak Stain Finish and a Black Countertop. The countertop has some beige and tan swirled in. I am having a hard time with Wall color and Ceramic Tile for the floors. It is an open kitchen and has french doors at the back so there will be plenty of light.

we recently had a sun tube fitted in our bathroom as there is no window. it was fitted by our builder who we are now in a legal dispute with. can anyone tell me if the external panel of the sun tube should be fitted on the south side of the roof, as ours is on the north side and lets little light through, making it useless. we still have to turn our bathroom light on during the day.(i didn't get to see the fitting instructions) any advice please?

I hate to get rid of the gifts but most do not fit with my decor. I am at a loss when friends and family visit and they do not see this or that which they have given me. What do you call this? I have seen condos that appear almost like a studio apartment but the one room is a living room and there is a small stair case which goes upstairs to an exposed bedroom that is almost on top of the living room. Is this a loft?

I've noticed some fences with the 2x4" rails w/faces (4") vertical against slats. Others, I've seen sides (2") against slats. Any particutular reason? Also, rails inside or outside my yard... facing anothers' backyard? thank you
