I recently removed wallpaper that came down failry easy. After it was removed I noticed it leaves glue residue on the wall. I also noticed in a few places where it looks as if the very outside layer of sheetrock was removed. I have sanded the wall and it is pretty smooth, but I can still see the speckled remnants of where the glue was. When I wash the wall with a sponge and paint it with primer will these spots be noticable? Also, do I need to put mud in the small places that the outside layer flaked off? Do I need a heavier grit sand paper to take more off?

I just redid my bathroom with a rustic theme - earthtone calls and ceiling, twig shelves, barnwood towel rack, mason jar soap dispenser, etc. Now I'm trying to think of what I could use for shower curtain rings (to put the curtain on the rod) that would fit in with this theme. Many cabin stores sell "lodge" type cutesy pinecones, moose, elk, etc. type rings, but I'm not looking for cutesy. I'm looking for truly rustic.

We aren't trying to make a statement with the carpet, just want something basic. We will be living in the house a few years so it has to hold up. I can't think of any obvious reason for lots of stains (like untrained pets in the house), but our mid-priced carpet looks worse from stains than from wear. No pets, babies, or special demands on the carpet. Recommendations of any sort appreciated.

Thanks,
Houyhnhnm

I live in Quebec. Our foyer has a door to the garage (steel, sealed, auto-closing), and also another interior door to the rest of the home. I other words, there is a door between the interior garage door and the rest of the house. I want to remove this door to open up the foyer.

Does anybody know if this second door is required by code? I don't think it is, provided that the interior door accessing the garage is to code, but it would be nice to know for sure. I can't find the relevant code information online. I will probably end up calling a code official but thought I'd try here anyway!

I stripped wallpaper from two adjoining areas so that I could paint. With one area, which did not have a layer of paint underneath, I had to do a fair amount of wall repair - spackling, sanding, priming, etc...

The other area had been painted before the wallpaper went up, so I thought it wouldn't be too difficult. I used hot water, a scraper, a sponge, Crunch... I got TONS of glue off, and thought the wall was ready to go. But now that the paint is up, I am noticing a few spots that seem like there was still some glue that needed to be removed. They either have this puckerish look, like I totally missed them, or else they look like smooth raised areas where I scrubbed but some got left behind. There's not a ton of these spots, but I know they'll irritate me.

So... is there anything I can do about it, or does the paint I put on make them permanent? Would the spackle/sand/ prime/paint routine I did on the other area help?

HELP!

Thanks!

It's inexpensive, but with three kids under 6 and a dog maybe I should consider it. Or do you think it is a real peice of crap and should be avoided because I'll be dissaponted with it.
