I stripped wallpaper from two adjoining areas so that I could paint. With one area, which did not have a layer of paint underneath, I had to do a fair amount of wall repair - spackling, sanding, priming, etc...

The other area had been painted before the wallpaper went up, so I thought it wouldn't be too difficult. I used hot water, a scraper, a sponge, Crunch... I got TONS of glue off, and thought the wall was ready to go. But now that the paint is up, I am noticing a few spots that seem like there was still some glue that needed to be removed. They either have this puckerish look, like I totally missed them, or else they look like smooth raised areas where I scrubbed but some got left behind. There's not a ton of these spots, but I know they'll irritate me.

So... is there anything I can do about it, or does the paint I put on make them permanent? Would the spackle/sand/ prime/paint routine I did on the other area help?

HELP!

Thanks!

I had this happen when the painter painted before I got the wall scrubbed.

He sanded the bad spots and it took three coats to correct the problem . Repainting over is the only solution I know of.
The room does look fabulous now.

I am glad it was him and not me.

Good Luck.

You will have to penetrate thru the paint that is on the wallpaper to allow moisture to get thru the wallpaper, you will have to score the wallpaper, first, I would rent a steamer as it will help loosen the glue behind the wall paper, once the paper is removed wash the walls down with TSP, then patch and sand any holes or bad places on the wall, prime and repaint. Good Luck...

You need to take HOT soapy water and a scrub pad ( Like a dish pad) and scrup the glue off . If you don't get all the glue off before painting, the paint will peel off later down the road .You can fell any holes with drywall patching and let dry then lightly sand .You should prime the walls before painting .

We had that happen in our bathroom. It looked like stretch marks. We painted a second coat over them and so far, so good.

Use a wallpaper stripper.
