Id like it to be relaxing, but the brown on the comforter are somewhat subtle and the red curtains are REALLY red. I'd be more willing to part with the comforter than the curtains. The furniture isnt a factor because I'm going to repaint it to match once I choose a wall color. I'm open as to a theme. I'd like it to be relaxing. If its a little dramatic thats okay too. I'm awful with choosing wall color. Too indecisive. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have two brothers that regularly go into my bedroom and steal my stuff, read my personal items or just generally turn the place upside down. they have nicked god knows how much crud off of me and even invite their friends in to have a look aswell.
i want to find a lock that is near as dammit unpickable, so I can keep them out of there adn keep my stuff safe. I would buy a normal lock. But the challenge of unpicking it would only make it more interesting to go into my bedroom.
If no one has any suggestions for locks, can anyone here be willing to carry out a planned double murder, that wouldnt lead back to me (joke)

I am looking for a small hinge (see picture http://ifollowhim.googlepages.com/hinge003.jpg ) that is used for cubby drawers. These drawers do not use a slide but are fit exactly to their opening. So basically they are sliding wood to wood. This “hinge” acts as a stop so the drawer doesn’t slide out but also allows the drawer to be released if need be. It is mounted on the top of the drawer back, The stop then folds to allow the drawer to enter the opening, and then pops up to create a stop if the drawer is pulled out to far.

This part is approx 7/8” wide x 1 7/8” long.

I can't stand my countertops anymore. They are mustard (worn through to white in some areas) with a faux leather texture. Since we are selling our house, I want to keep the cost to a minimum, but I have to do something. New laminate tops would cost about $1000 and I want to spend way less then that.

Paint them? There is a DVD available that says you can paint your counters and they will not chip or peel. You can even paint them to look like granite. But all I ever hear is how it never works...
http://www.countertoptransfauxmations.com/before&After.html

Relaminate them? The laminate on them now is not lifting at all. I'd really like to just rough them up and relaminate over them, but I keep hearing no way on this too. I think removing the old laminate would be a pain.

I just want it to look nicer for showings and while I am there. Is it better to paint them or recover them??

We bought a new house in the country. We won't be using trash pickup service since we can burn it. Glass, metals, & plastic will still be taken into town for recycling. My husband thinks a trash compactor is a good idea. I see it just taking up cabinet space. For $400, I am not sure it is worth it. What do you think?

Before we started kitchen renovation, I found an inspiration picture - a Tuscan farm scene with yellow-orange fields, dark greens trees, and red roofs and the poppies. We have tiles w/ shades of yellow, tan, and rust and maple "spice" cabinets. The appliances are stainless steel w/ black. The countertops will be Juniperano St. Cecelia granite, which has a light base, with black, yellows, oranges, and some red flecks in it. The sink is black granite and the fixtures are brushed nickel.

I took the color of the picture mat (Warm Muffin from Behr) and we painted that on the ceiling in the kitchen. The kitchen walls will be faux Italian plaster (not a lot of wall showing due to cabinets, tile backsplash, and banquette seating).

The original plan was to pick up the red from the painting and granite by painting the kitchen walls a darker red color (similar to Behr's Ruby Ring). I need to paint the walls, but I'm starting to get scared. Will the red be too dark/bold? If so, what to do?

I have tons of furniture in my house that I do not use and that I would like to sell. I am considering putting on ebay but, first I would like to know if there are any companies in New York City that will appraise and buy my old furniture. I have a bunch of pieces in excellent condition from companies like "Cargo" and "This End Up".

I just found out that the floors in my home are hardwood. I was wondering if pulling it up and redoing the hardwood floors is something I could do or do I need to hire a professional? I would like to know how costly it will be doing it yourself and hiring someone. Are there any products that will make the job easier? If you have any experience in doing a job like this, please tell me your answers and experiences.

This red is lighter than the origianl red that the kitchen was painted. I do not know what type of finish was on that paint. We bought our paint at Duron (Sherwin Williams). We put two coats on, then primed the entire wall and put two more coats over top (5 coats total). The paint does not look smooth (you can see brush strokes) and has not covered white spots well (patches where nails used to be). Any help on what we can try or what is going wrong?

We need to buy a couch and chair for our condo at the beach that will be used as a rental. We want to buy something that is of decent quality so that it lasts more than a season or two. We want furniture that will not get destroyed easily from wet bathing suits and spilling of drinks.

I'm fairly certain I want Laminate (wood) flooring for my high traffic area i.e. Living room, kitchen, dinning room. I'm remodeling and have taken up the old carpet and lenoleum (sp?) I've been into all the home improvement stores and have looked at a lot of them. Which is the best? Which brand has the best wear and warranty. Which one seems to be the best value for the buck? I've found a brand and style that I like at Lowes but it seems expensive at $4.37 a square foot and I have to special order it. I don't care for the stock laminate that costs less. Anyone know where the best place (maybe on-line) to look for reliable laminate flooring and good service. I need to cover about 575 square feet. Thanks everyone!
