I painted the chipboard ceiling of our new house about a year ago. Already it is very flaky (the room can be both quite hot and quite cold). We've moved in now. How should I rectify this situation?

where in Canada can this be found; I did a search on Home Depot and Rona but it's not showing up and I would like to check if they have this before I go in person.
Where can I find these if it's possible; my door is old and needs a major facelift.

We are having a baby girl "Chloe Melissa" due on August 5th. We decided to go with a classic Pink Toile them for bedding and curtains and the furniture is Victorian antique white. We are struggling with a wall color idea. Pink seems to work but I'm worried everything will be too pink in there. Any alternate ideas on a wall color? Thanks!

I moved into my rental house about 3 months ago and only plan on living here for a few years until I can afford to buy my own so I don't really want to put any money into it. But, there is wallpaper on my shower walls and its hiding mold and it's peeling off. Worse yet, it is all sunflowers!! There are three different kinds of wallpaper in the bathroom, all different sunflower patterns. I love to relax in the tub but find it hard when the bathroom is a disaster. I know nothing about redecorating. What would be best to replace the wallpaper in the shower with? That is cheap but will outlast my stay here. I want the cheapest way to make my bathroom look better. Any suggestions, Please help!!!

my living room windows and bedroom windows face a high traffic area. the traffic noise is sometimes so loud to even get a good nights rest or even enjoy television. what is the best way to muffle the sound through my windows or even sound proof the windows without spending too much money?

Currently, I am getting estimates. It is going to be 200 feet of fencing and a front gait and a back gait large enough to drive my lawn mower thru.
The whole idea is to keep my 80 lb chocolate lab in the back yard before he gets arrested by that big fat dog lover down the street. Right now, he is in the house with me except when I have to go to work, then he goes to the garage, but he is having anxiety, so I though a nice shady lawn would make it better.
How much should 200 feet of 4 ft chain link cost installed with 2 gaits cost. I am a single female and can feel the fence installers seeing an easy rip off.

I have to choose between a granite or timber worksurface in my kitchen. I want a country/rustic style and prefer the look of the timber countertops. Does anyone have any advice on which is the better of the two and why?? Thank you!

I just recently moved into a townhouse.
and in the bedroom, there is a plug for a ceiling fan to go, however i just want to hang paper lanterns from the ceiling and plug them in without having to trail the cords down the wall..

Is there any way that I can attach them through the ceiling fan outlet??
A way that possibly doesn't involve me having to call a professional to do it??

Thank you!!!

Hi all,

I've been thinking about jacking my job in and rennovating houses for a living. I've managed to rennovate my last three houses, and I'd quite like to do it for a living now.

I'm an architectural technician by trade and I'm more than handy at DIY (not registered though for gas or electrical maintenance sadly).

My question is about raising capital for the purchase of a property that needs rennovation. I appreciate that normal mortgages are not applicable, so can I obtain a self build mortgage or something like that as I would do if I were building myself? Can I get investors? Any advice would be greatfully received.

I bought a house and the cabinets are unattractive. I saw at Lowes about "refacing"??? I also saw a look called the "casual kitchen" where there are no doors and the cabinets are painted. What do you think would be best?

My fiance and I are trying to debating whether we should consider building an addition to our current house (when we need the additional bedrooms) or just look to buy a new house. We love our current house and location, so we'd love to stay here. But we don't want to waste money on addition if we won't see a return when we final do sell it. Would it just be better to sell and buy a bigger house?

Any recommendations? Thanks!

I was just wondering how much you would charge to patch about a 3'x3' square in a bathroom ceiling? Have to cut out the old drywall, put the other up, put on compound, sand, and all that stuff..
