I would think something like polypropylene would be used for some. Polypropylene bends has a good hinge affect for plastics and that is why it is used for many snap bottle caps. Polystyrene or acrylic might be used for some of the clear ones. They have the best properties for being clear as far as plastic goes. The outer plastic sheet that the paper normally goes under is probably made of low density polyethylene. It is the plastic used for most clear plastic sheeting.
