Go find a little locally owned hardware store. Odds are the owner, whom by the way 9 times out of 10 used to be a general contractor. Can tell you from his personal experience which window, style, type, and brand is going to be the best. He will more than likely also give you a "break" percentage off of the the total price if you buy all 8 windows from him. Hint if the windows are going to be in a room where carpets, and fabrics are prone to fade, the I would recommend the new glass called Low E. I know some of the these guys, they also come to your home and measure the windows and ceasings, that way they get the exact measurements. That way the are responsible for the cost of the window if for some reason the window size is wrong. As far as a brand name of window, there are 100s. We used a window from a comapny called Warren Brothers. After 10 years the seal in the kitchen window broke, and our little locally owned hardware store owner got our complete window replaced for no cost to us.

I recently replaced all my old 1920's windows which were falling apart. I had several bid done and I ended up going with sears. They were the middle bid but all the windows were custom fit. They are all double pane low E. The biggest thing that sold me was the warranty. It is a lifetime ANYTHING happens they replace it. It is also transferable to the next owners for up to 50 years. They also finance and there is no sales tax. The total was just under 500$ a window

Anderson windows are usually regarded as the best. I'm not sure as far as price. Pella is also pretty good. If you want to find a good deal, you might consider checking out MI windows or Capital windows. They are made right in Brazil, Indiana. You can order them right at the company I believe. The company is Metal Industries. I know because they are located in my home town and I used to work there when I was growing up. The company may be called MI Home Products now, not totally sure. The company is located right off US 40 in Brazil.
