I want to know this, because a personal trainer told me if I want to be muscular, and really athletic, I should focus mainly on plyometric training as well as power training. And what are good workouts for power training?

Or would you say anything? Here's the thing:

My mom is in her late 50's, 5'2" and about 165 lbs. She has a tiny frame and should only be between 110-120. She has for YEARS blamed her weight gain on having turned 35, and as my 35th birthday approaches, I keep hearing more and more about how I'm supposedly going to "not be so skinny" anymore and "you don't think it'll happen to you, but it will" and "age is a terrible thing, just you wait and see, it'll be your turn soon".

She blames it entirely on her age and not on the fact that she overeats. I mean SERIOUSLY overeats. I don't know about during the week--she follows her version of one of the levels of the South Beach Diet--but the weekends, she's admitted that she eats whatever she wants, from Friday evenings when she eats out with my step-dad to Sunday evening. When we're over for supper, she must eat 3 times the amount I eat. She's definitely a "live to eat" person whereas I'm much more of a "eat to live" person. ...

Say after a month

2007-11-05 13:27:09 · 4 answers · asked by ★Lily 4

I dont want to lose a billion pounds in the course of three weeks or anything, my main goal is about 20 or 30 pounds (Im 5'6", 165lbs, a month from 15 years old) But, I dont want a diet that will take me years to reach my goal. Im aiming for about 10 pounds per month (if thats too much, any suggestions?) I dont want something that will require me to buy weird foods or diet pills. I just want a healthy workout routine (for winter months ^^; Ill run, but Id like to know how to dress for cold weather if thats the case) and a diet that I can follow with basic foods you could find in any refridgerator (my family is generally healthy eaters, so we are actually pretty short on the junk foods and fizzy drinks)
Once again, no ridiculous wonder diets. Just something logical that wont get in the way of my daily life (no six meal a day diets, I tried that and didnt like it)
Thanks to anyone who helps :D

does your body naturally try to stay at that point and try to prevent you from gaining/losing weight? i am 17, 5'3, and like 107-109 pounds and sometimes i probably eat less then i should but i don't lose weight. is that because my body is trying so hard to keep the weight on? like if i was overweight and was eating less then i should i would lose weight right?

I dont understand why people say carbs are bad for you when your trying to lose weight. I've been on a diet for like 3 months, eating 150g of carbs a day, and i have lost 20 lbs. So what is suppose to be so bad about carbs when dieting??

i even went on my friend's scale and it said i lost the same amount ofweight. ive been walking because of school and i eat less and healthier than i have. (not totally healthy) anyway, it shows, but not too much. my dad says some of it is muscle. anyway, what's up with my situation and will i ever completely lose the weight? i have to right?... btw, my pants fit better, so maybe i was borderline the next size or something. also, i have 40 pounds altogether to lose. now i have 23 left.

I'm 45 years old and I feel as good as I did when I was 22-in more ways than one. I feel physically fit and pyschologically as enthusiastic as ever. I have been getting moderate amounts of exercise-some vigorous and some not so vigorous-and I have been very careful about my diet for a number of years now. I feel like I have found the fountain of youth; I'm just not sure where I found it. In other words, I'm not sure which parts of my fitness regimen are the most effective: diet, supplements or exercise. I just feel that the more I know about aging, the more I can refine this fitness program of mine.

Is a high-protein diet bad for an average teenage girl, or is it good? For example, my food intake today was 17% fat, 51% carbs, and 31.5% protein...(you're supposed to have 30% fat, 55% carbs, and 15% protein). How should I eat if I want to maintain a healthy weight, and also look lean?
