Helps your body move things along. Otherwise your food/waste would stay inside your intestines forever.

A good way to get fiber if your diet doesn't provide enough (whole grains, raw fruits & vegies) is Miralax. You mix it in your food and can't tell it's even there, but you will have enough fiber to move things along within a few hours.

Pretty much everyone knows that it helps regulate the gastro-intestinal system (makes you go 2 better). What most people don't know is that the soluble kind of fiber actually helps reduce serum LDL cholesterol levels in the body (bad cholesterol). It also helps reduce the GI of carbs. Most high fiber foods also contain a good deal of antioxidants as well as many other vitamins and minerals. That's why it's best to get it in whole food form rather than supplement form.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://tinyurl.im/aHLyK

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

Fiber helps your digestive tract. It makes food get through your body quick and easy, without the pain of constipation or grossness of diarrhea. Fiber is very good for your body.

I really haven't seen this published anywhere but I have severe Arthritis. Since I've been making sure that I get 35 grams of fiber everyday, my pain is VERY diminished.

I believe that fiber also slows down digestion. It thus slows down the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose which is blood sugar. When your blood sugar level is stable, your body needs less insulin to convert the glucose into fat. Insulin not only makes you fat, but excess amounts have been shown to be associated with a variety of diseases. I believe much of this remains controversial and very complicated, but I think there is mounting evidence in support of this thesis.

fiber is another word for cellulose

You should've learned about it in biology. The human body cannot digest cellulose (fiber, the stuff in fruits/vegetables) so it just goes through your system, undigested, until it get excreted in poop.

Fiber is good for you because it helps 'clear' out your system, by making you poop more often (no joke). It thus helps reduce cancer in your digestive tract.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple years, I'm sure you've heard of the Paleo Diet. Read here https://tr.im/paleoguide
I hate to even call it a diet, because it's really just the real way that humans have eaten for almost 1.9 Million years, as opposed to the modern-day processed food diet full of grains, sugars, and processed vegetable oils.
