Assuming you're not a body builder that is considered to be in the "obese" range for women and "overweight" for men. Weight is not the best indicator of health though, because there are a number of factors like bone density and muscle mass that can contribute to total weight and have nothing at all to do with how "fat" you are.

Instead you should check you BMI (Body Mass Index) in conjunction with your Body Fat Percentage. Women in general should be between 21-24% body fat and men should be between 16-18% though athletes will tend to be lower. You can have your BMI checked by a doctor or nutritionist and they can then recommend a good weight loss program for you that fits your particular needs.

(NOTE; You can check your BMI online at a couple of different sites based on height and weight, but it is REALLY not very accurate because it doesn't take into account bone density and muscle mass. I really recommend seeing a professional)

Lionheart, you are basically right, but the 9-16% fat range is for athletic men. Women's optimal range is higher, because women simply maintain (and NEED) more fat than men.

you have a body mass index of 31.9 which shows that you are medically obesy. For your height you should be aiming to have a BMI of 20-24, which would be between 135 pounds and 160 pounds.

i would recommend that you get a body fat percentage check, instead of using your weight as a guideline. you should be aiming at having a body fat percentage between 9% - 16%

it doesn't matter what your height and bodyweight are or your BMI. the only thing that matters is how much body fat you have. for optimum health, decreased rick of metabolic disorders and various forms of cancer you want to have below average levels of body fat.
