Here in Italy my dentist keep saying that amalgam is the best stuff to take care of teeth.I'd rather something different because its silver colour annoys me.
Do they use it too in the USA?

I have an infected gum from the emergence of bottom left wisdom tooth. I am now taking antibiotics. It is said that I should get it removed for over 1000 bucks. Its said that if I don't get it removed it will come in and out throughout my life causing flaps of broken skin and discomfort. This concerns me because this infection snuck up on me right quick. I'm interested in primitive dental work because it would be free. Is there any good info out there on the subject? I want to become my own dentist.

I'm planning to start using baking soda to whiten up my teeth and I'm thinking of starting using it like three times a day and then as my teeth start to whiten to go easy on it like only once a day and once a day but very little to none. What do you think? Is it a good idea? Thanks a lot. :)

They do this procedure if ur mouth is narrow and there isn't enough room for ur teeth. If anyone has heard of this or has had it done is it worth getting it done.

The entire right side of my mouth hurts..I've had several opinons..but haven't seen the dentist yet b/c I've been busy with finals..I'm a grad student so as soon as I find time..I HAVE to go to the doctor...Any idea on what it could be?..Some mornings are worse than others..and it seems to move from tooth to tooth...with the pain disappearing in one and moving to another..my gums are not red or inflamed...but they hurt and are extremely sensitive...is it my wisdom teeth?? I'm 24..I thought if I had problems I'd have had them by now?...

I have to get 4 teeth removed in a few days - 2 wisdom/2 molars. The dentist gave me Amoxicillan for an infection (3 per day). So far I have taken ten of those, I'm not sure how the infection is coming along, but what I DO know is that I still have IMMENSE pain at times, lasting anywhere from ten minutes to a half hour. Throbbing, at times I almost feel like screaming out loud, and I am a person that can take a good amount of pain. I called the dentist back today and told him about the pain, in which he said that the pain should subside with the clearing up of the infection, and he also prescribed Tylenol 4 with Codeine for me. But still at times the pain is so severe, I cannot lay down to sleep, I must sleep in a chair. The wisdom teeth and molars to be removed are cracked, and have holes in them too - some of the holes feel very deep. I wonder if I could have Dry Socket even though I have not had the teeth removed? I cannot imagine Dry Socket being any more painful than this.

Several months ago (6-7?), I started experiencing a sharp, aching pain on the lower left side of my mouth. It was so bad that a sympathy pain had started on the top of the same side. I self-treated with Orajel for a few days before going to a dentist who told me I had simple gum inflamation and prescribed antibiotics. He said the pain would go away, and it did, sort of--at least it wasn't crippling agony anymore.

So fast-forward to two days ago. I was eating lunch and felt like I had something stuck between my teeth. Upon going to the bathroom to floss it out, a chunk of my tooth fell out! I don't have dental insurance, and I've been looking for a job for the past two months. I freaked and called my mom, but she didn't have any advice. Then this afternoon, I felt another part of the tooth loosen and fall out! Now instead of only a chip gone, it's 1/3! I've been covering it with gauze until I can talk to a dentist about what I can do, but I'm very freaked out. Any advice?

I have basically perfectly straight teeth but my top four teeth at the front have small gaps between them.

I have been offered to get braces to close the gaps and just mainly make my teeth in line perfectly.

I really dont want to get braces of any kind unless the gaps wont close up by themselves. So, are there types of gaps that can close on their own? Any websites would be good aswell.

Thanks.

For about a month and a half now I have had pain in the back of my mouth and throat when I swallow, yawn or spit out the toothpaste when i brush my teeth. have gone to my doctor and he didn't give me much of an answer. not even to suggest what was going on. but he did refer me to an oral surgeon. my appointment is in about 2 weeks. i am just wondering if this is an infection in my salivary gland, or a gland stone. has anyone had similar problems?

I can still eat and talk and stuff its just it hurts when I try to open my mouth wide enough to like eat a sandwich or something. Please help!! Also if yall could help me to figure out a way to stop grinding my teeth at night that would be great!! p.s I have tried the night guards but they don't stay in my mouth all night long!!

I wanted to know whether or not I would need headgear. I have a class I overbite (or whatever term is used for that-I forget) and class II overcrowding on the top jaw only. It is the top teeth that are crowded, and I don't actually have any more jaw space. I have precisely enough room to allow the second molars. The front teeth on top are crowded. Please tell me whether or not this constitutes the need of headgear because nobody will tell me.
