My wisdom tooth is coming through and I'm pretty sure I have a bad infection with it - I can't open my mouth very far and I'm in pain from the top of my cheek to my neck and I can't swallow very well. I'm not registered to any dentist at the moment so would I have to register with someone to get it seen to (And will it be expensive??) or can I go to my doctor?
Also, if worst comes to worst and I have to get it removed, can I insist that I get it done under general anaesthetic because I'm absolutely petrified of procedures at the dentist while I'm awake??

Thanks!

I am 18 years old with a narrow upper jaw, My sister had the same thing and she had it corrected at about 15 years with a device that she had to turn every so often at the roof of her mouth, which opened it up more. Could the same thing be used with me, since boys do age at later ages than girls do?

Ok, I am 13, and I'm getting braces soon, and I have a few questions.
1) How long does it usually take for them to put the braces on?
2) What are the best foods to eat during the first couple of weeks after being sore?
3) How long does it usually hurt?

I have a hairline crack in one of my bottom front teeth. It does not go down to the gum and isnt very noticible...but I want it fixed. I've heard that bonding will fix it. I have an appointment for 4 weeks from yesterday, what can I do to prevent it from cracking further between now and then?

Our office is implementing a new system for "confirming" dental hygiene appointments which are generally scheduled 6 months in advance. Which of the following do you think would work the best? We are trying to decrease last minute/day of cancellations.

1) Two days prior......This is Cherie calling from ABC Dental. This is a courtesy call to remind you of your 60 minute appointment with Dr. Tooth for Monday October 7th at 2:30pm. We look forward to seeing you then!

2) 1 week prior...... This is Cherie calling from ABC Dental. I am calling to verify your time commitment with Dr. Tooth on Monday October 7th at 2:30pm. We have reserved 60 minutes for you. Will you be here? (patients says yes) Great! Would you like a courtesy call a few days prior to your appointment?

3) 1 week prior.... same as above but replace "time commitment" with "appointment."

****I appreciate your input****

my dentist says i have 4 cavities,(my parents think they lie, but i dont think they would do that) and well i wanna know how to prevent them from coming in the first place, or stop it from growing. if i have sweets like brownies, should i immidiatly brush my teeth? does apple juice ruin teeth too? and what about gum, cuz i like to chew on gum all the time. please be serious, thanks.
