Dental care & mouth care.
After every meal, chew a little salt and gargle with water. Soft brush can be used to clean the particles caught between the teeth and the gums. Make it habit to clean the teeth every morning and before retiring to bed. In India, people use thin twig of a Babul, Banyan or a Neem tree (known as Datoon) as a brush. First it is to be crushed to make it soft and then use it like a brush. It is advisable to us a Datoon of Babul, Banyan or Neem tree at least once a day.
It is reported by experienced dentists that tooth pastes available in the marked are not much effective. Instead, the following tooth powder or paste which can be easily made at home has been found quite useful for the care of gums and teeth :
1. Tooth Powder : Mixture of finely ground alum powder 40% and rock salt or regular salt powder 60%. For better results, a few drops of lemon may be added. In case of dental problems, adding a little of 'Sudarshan' (a bitter Ayrvedic powder is also recommended.
2. Tooth-paste : For dental problems like bleeding, pyorrhoea, toothache, gingivitis, etc. make a paste of
50% alum powder
10% rock salt or table salt powder
10% Sudarshan powder (an Ayurvedic preparation)
15% edible oil (unrefined)
10% glycerine tanic acid
5% camphor.
The paste made of this mixture can be massaged on the teeth and gums in the morning and evening with fingers. It ca be packed in collapsible tubes/jars and used, as tooth-paste.
3. Even massaging the gums with a mixture of 70% unrefined edible oil (seasame or groundnut or coconut), 15% glycerine tanic acid and 15% fine powder of rock salt or table salt is useful for good, healthy teeth and gums. Make it a daily habit. Please not that healthy gums are more useful than sparkling white teeth.
4. Mouth Freshener : Gargling with a lemon juice mixed with lukewarm water, freshens the mouth. Take a quarter of a lemon, massage it on teeth and gums and then gargle with water. Even chewing of mango, tulsi or betel leaves after meals is good, and so it is advised in India.
5. Exercises for teeth : Keep the lips closed. Pound the upper teeth on lower teeth for 30 to 40 times twice a day. Then massage the saliva on gums with the tongue. That will ensure proper blood circulation in teeth and increase the life of healthy teeth and gums.

This may have been caused by not looking after your gums well enough in the past they can become tender and bleed when you brush them, or if it is very bad can bleed when you eat. I suggest that you make sure you brush your teeth and gums 2-3 times a day and use a mouth wash, if the situation has not improved within 7 days of doing this then make an oppointment with your dentist.

It seems like you May Have Gingavitis.
Its a gum disease that CAN be treated. I recogmend that you go to the dentist or even call the dentists to explain to him your problem.
Sights of Gingavitis are...
A receding gum line.
Swolen gums.
Red or PURPLE gums.
Or mabey your gums are just irratated. What really helps is taking your toothbrush and just massaging your gums with the brissels ( The white things on the brush that you put tooth paste on) Massaging your gums is ESSENTIAL because thats what can cause them to bleed, and get swollen. YOU DONT NEED TOOTHPASTE FOR THIS.
Heres something's that you can do.
1) Brush your teeth and massage those GUMS!
2) Floss your teeth
3) Use mothwash
4) Call a docter or dentist
5) ( If you have braces ) SCRUB THEM REALLY HARD with the brush.. not too hard that is causing you pain though.
Dont worry It may not be gingavitis but it could be on the verge. I hope this helps
:] Smiles :]

Clear signs of gingivitis. This is caused from lack of proper dental hygiene. Floss and brush your teeth 2-3 times daily or after every meal and the mouth rinse is optional but it helps. Do this routine for the rest of your life and your teeth will look and feel better and the gingivitis will subside. Don't forget to go to the dentist for check-ups and cleanings!
On the flip side, this could be a sign of sensitive gums and in that case, you should invest in a softer toothbrush and toothpaste designed for sensitivity.

The most common cause of bleeding gums, if it happens repeatedly, is brushing too vigorously.
Deficiency of vitamin C can cause your gums to bleed easily.
If you have bad breath, you may have an infection in your gums. See a dentist for treatment. This could cause tooth loss.

Do you have extremely sensitive teeth as well?
I had bleeding gums as well and my dentist told me they are signs of gingivitis, but I manage to get my healthy gums back.
My advice:
Floss! even if you bleed, gently floss every night.
Mouth wash occasionally. Sometimes mouth wash can be harsh to your sore gums, just occasionally use mouth wash.
Lightly brush your teeth and GUMS
Brushing your gums is very important aswell as flossing your gums.

Go to the dentist and get a cleaning and then after your cleaning start flossing. It's a pain in the butt at first to get used to but you'll get 'addicted' to the feeling of having your mouth feel so clean. Follow up with a dental rinse after each brushing/flossing.
