Ok, I am 13, and I'm getting braces soon, and I have a few questions.
1) How long does it usually take for them to put the braces on?
2) What are the best foods to eat during the first couple of weeks after being sore?
3) How long does it usually hurt?

Hi
I just got braces too.
1) It takes about 1-1/12 hours. First you will probably watch a movie that explains about caring for and cleaning your braces.
2) For the first few days, eat soft foods such as fruit puree and yogurt.
3) My braces only hurt for a few days. You may have occasional pain after, especially after tightening but when you first get them it's not too bad. If they hurt (if they are cutting you) put wax on them and bonjela. If they are hurting, don't eat cold foods or ice your mouth because this causes the metal to shrink, making the braces tighter. Instead, eat hot foods such as soup.
I hope this helps you. Any more questions you can email me.

Braces take a rather lomg time to put on.
The first thing to go on is usually spacers. Those are little plastic things that look like donuts, and they'll slip them between your molars with floss. They hurt the first several days, but are necessary so there is room to put brackets around your rear teeth.
When you get your braces on, they will put a contraption in your mouth that spreads your gums away from your teeth so they can cement them on. The process takes a couple of hours. they do hurt a little at first, so you'll have to take some advil or montrin when you get home.
Every month, you'll have to go in for an adjustment, where they pull the wire that runs through your braces a little tighter. About 2 hours later, you will be in some pain, so the best things to eat are soft stuff, like Chef BoyRDe pasta, soup, oatmeal, bananas, etc. If you eat right after your adjustment, you can eat anything since it'll take a couple of hours before it hurts.

It doesn't take to long for them to put on braces. Its just a matter of cementing brackets on to your teeth using an UV light. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. (depending on how fast the people work.)

Eating soft foods will probably help.. But Most of the people I knew (including me) were eating anything and everything the first day we had them put on which included popcorn, jawbreakers, ice, Just about everything the docs told us not to eat.(this was also 7 years ago.)

It will only hurt for maybe a week depending on your pain tolerance. Tightening will be the same. What hurt me the most were the brackets rubbing the insides of my cheeks raw But they will give you some wax to put on top of those trouble areas. Just carry some advil or ib prophine with you.
Braces are not that bad to have.. i had mine for two years and they never really bothered me.

1) Just a few minutes after they do all the other stuff cleaning out your mouth.

2) For the first few days I would recommend soups, jell-o, anything that doesn't really need to be chewed.

3) About 5 days for me. Just take some pain reliever. =)

1) I think mine took about 45 minutes.
2) I ate a lot of soup. No carrots or hard foods.
3) Mine hurt for about 5-7 days, if I didn't take Advil. Take the Advil, it works great. Then it hurts the next day every time you get your wire changed.
