And if so, why do people spend so much money on teeth-whitening products when they could get a tub of baking soda for around 50p? Also, is it safe to use in this way?

I had a tongue ring for 7 years and it indented my bottom back gum line right behind my teeth. That and my wisdom teeth coming in on my bottom row has caused a lot of gum pain. They are bleeding when I brush my teeth and I don't know what to do. I don't have insurance and was wondering what the best course of action would be?
is there any way to get the gum back to cover where it's supposed to? I am worried that my tooth is going to rot...very gross!

You brush your teeth first thing in the morning. Then you eat. So what was the point? Wouldn't you first eat in the morning, and then brush your teeth? Then the brushing and toothpaste actually has an effect! What do you think?

My hubby came up with a toothache on his lower left jaw yesterday. The pain was terrible for him and this morning he woke up with a golf ball size lump where the toothache is. I've tried to get him in on emergency to a Dentist but the office had already closed when the toothache started and they don't do emergencies here... What can he do to alleviate the pain and try to guard against any other side effects from the infection? Also, what should he watch for before he heads to emergency? Oh, and something new and weird has come up... I made him take a thermometer to work to make sure his temperature isn't rising, but it has in fact dropped to 95.5

as stated above, it HURTS! seemingly out of nowhere today. i felt the top of my mouth and its sensitive towards the back of my mouth almost centered. i felt all around and its where i just stated and continues (with the pressure of my finger) in a half circle around towards the front. the right side feels fine. i had 2 ppl look and they say it looks the same as the other side. i could not view accurately myself. even normal pressure of my tongue and or swallowing hurt. i havent done anything or eaten anything out of the norm. i even removed my tongue ring...whats wrong?!!?! i do have a dentist appt coincidentally this coming week, i wanna know now tho!

Hi, I had one of my molars filled about 2 months ago and its still sensitive. It only bothers me when I chew on it or floss in between it. One time when i flossed in between it, some of the filling chipped. I've been back to the dentist twice about this and the first time he said the bite was off and 'fixed' that. it still hurt, so i went back again and he took xrays. he said everything was fine but i had some infection in my gums around that tooth.

do you think maybe he screwed up the filling and doesnt want to admit it? or is this normal. any help would be great. thanks.

My sons right lateral incisor looks like two teeth. I can't remember what his dentist called it. The size of the "two teeth" is the size of his left lateral incisor. His dentist said it is not 2 teeth joined together b/c the canine teeth come in later(He's only 17 months old). Anyone know what this is called? I've never seen or heard of it. I've tried searching different things. I can't find any info. : /

You may have read or answerd some of my other dental questions. Eg.. wobbly teeth wont come out, scared of the dentist/needles ect.
i have been and i was terrified. He pulled out 3 wobbly teeth and not i have a whole bottom row of adunt teeth. but now i need a plate to push forward out my top right eye tooth. currently, i have (top row) my two baby eye teeth and 1 adult eye tooth on my right. i also got out another two teeth with a needle too.

now my question.

i have all my teeth exept the ones i mentioned above.

I have a gap between my two top front teeth and i HATE it. i would nver get braces but i really want something to close the gap but not too expensive as i am 13, so my mum and dad would be paying for it. ive heard of the teeth effect bands but would never buy them over the internet. i am going to the dentist and i am going to ask him about them in 2 weeks (next apt.)
i can fit the straight side of a bobby pin in it
is there any cheaper way to close the gap
ta x

I took my daughter for her first dental exam today. She's three.
We are fairly new to the area, so I had never visited this particular clinic before. I chose it because it was on the list of dentists in my area that our insurance covers and they could get us in the soonest. When I scheduled the appointment, I made it clear that she was very little and had not ever been to a dentist before. They said they wanted her to watch me have my teeth cleaned and then they'd do her. I told them I didn't think this would work, but they insisted that's how they do it so I went along with them. When we got to the clinic, we waited over an hour and she was getting tired from waiting when they finally took us to the exam room. They wanted her to sit on the floor. I said "No I don't think she's gonna sit on the floor, and she's tired. Just do her exam and I'll reschedule mine." The doctor started chuckling and said it was amusing someone with a "chubby kid" was so afraid of germs...

A few hours ago i had to get 3 cavitys filled and 2 sealant teeth or something like that. They numbed my mouth and then started working on them. Except the left side of my mouth wasnt fully numb and i could feel everything. He asked if it hurt and i said yes, so he numbed it some more. To keep my mouth open he used these plyer looking things with a green rubber sheet over it, and i had to stay like that for quite a while. Now only half of my lip is numb, and my left side of my cheek is just now starting to get numb. Also, because of the plyer looking thing, my jaw is hurting like crazy, i scared to eat anything because it hurts when i barely even move my mouth! I am only 14, please help someone give me some advice on what to do or when it will go away. Thanks

I've been using the same ole' sonicare electic toothbrush for a long time, and for the most part, never liked it. Mainly because it's not strong enough, doesn't feel like it's getting anything done. I brush very often and still got a cavity a while back I want to get a new, much stronger one, don't care if it's sonicare or not. Is there a model out there that's known for being pretty fierce? I don't want something damaging to my gums or anything..but something close to it would be nice, heh. Thanks.
