Look, any toothpaste is fine, as long its approved by the ADA (American Dental Association), and as long as it contains fluoride. Fluoride in general is a chemical, substance, that helps protect teeth against cavities/caries. I recommend you try as many different toothpastes as you can, and see which one suits you best. There are many different brands, and many promise different results, thats somewhat true. As long as you use a good brushing technique, your teeth will be healthy, and free from dentobacterial plaque.
As for whitening toothpaste, be careful with those, because they contain certain chemicals that tend to burn or irritate your gums and tongue, and in the long run will affect your teeth in making them more sensitive.

They're all about the same. Some have whitening, some have anti-tarter, some taste like chocolate mint. As long as it has fluoride and the ADA seal of approval it's fine to use. i would use Colgate

Anything without fluoride in it--fluoride is a deadly poison.
The Nazis used it in the camps to dumb the people down. www.infowars.com

A GOOD, BUT EXPENSIVE WHITENING TOOTHPASTE IS REMBRANDT.
