I've a lower molar which was already filled many years ago. There is no pain or trouble at this moment, but as it does not look nice because of the fillings and to prevent further or future decay. Crowning is said to prevent or protect from future decay of the tooth. Is it good to place a crown on it, can I skip the root canal treatment since there is no pain or trouble on the tooth at this moment??? Will it give any trouble in future and for many years down the road, if there is no root canal treatment on the tooth???

Also, drinking cola and sugary beverages (like hot chocolate, milk & cereal, which usually have sugar content) are bad for teeth as these often causes the tooth decay. Will rinsing the mouth with tapwater (without brushing as no food intake) prevent the decay?? (I do at least 2 brushings and 1 flossing per day, however, I do need to take these beverages in between meals).

Will anyone please give good suggestion and advice. Thanking you in advance.

Long time ago, my dentist cleaned the cavity in may toth and He said cavity is too deep also it has a crack to nerves, he should use a material which compatible with nerves, and give a less uncomfort. And also nerves may retract by time. it's %50 chance. its done and worked. What is the name of that material? anybody know?

I had a root canal and a pocelain crown placed in approxiamtely 3 years ago. Recently, it bacame loose (i knew because i was chewing on that side and it popped off. I have a dominant side when I chew and the crown popped off was not in that side. My question is how long can crowns last in your mouth? My dentist told me that approx 10 years (I also have another one thath has been in for about that time without becoming loose from the same doctor). Should I tell my dentist and will she do it for a reduced price since it seems like it was her fault (since it loosened prematurely)? I dont see a reason for the loosening considering I barely use that side to chew. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I'm not in pain or discomfort, just crown pops off at the most inopportune times.

I just took out my tongue ring because obviously it doesn't help my teeth. I use Rembrandt whitening strips. I just recently started flossing daily and brushing 3x instead of the pathetic once or twice.

I'm going to Mexico on vacation soon, specifically to Cozumel. I've been there before so I know we will be provided with a bottle of purified water in the bathroom. I recently had to have dentures fitted and I have found that warm water is best for cleaning the denture adhesive off the false teeth. When I go to Cozumel am I ok to use the warm tap water to clean the dentures as long as I rinse them with mouthwash afterwards? Or should I stick to the purified water provided. I don't want to get any nasty tummy bugs, managed to avoid them last time we were there.

I have recently been to the dentist for pain on my lower left molar area. After xrays the dentist told me there was no sign of a cavity there but i do have deep fillings on those teeth. He said that i need a root canal. My second to last tooth on the left lower side is extremely sensitive when i poke my finger at the gum line/ tooth line. It feels like a nerves shooting when i poke at the gum/tooth line. What could this mean. I dont like pain and i really dont want a root canal or extraction. Help!

I liked to chew gum on occasion, but now that I have braces, I don't know if its okay or not. I tried googling it, but I only come up with some sites saying it's okay to chew gum and it helps your teeth move faster, while others say its bad and it'll pull the bracket off....

So, which is the truth? I know lots of people say its bad, but is it REALLY that bad? If its not recommended, do tell me....I don't want to wear these darn things more than I already have to XD

Im 15 and I was in a car accident when I was 3 and became paralyzed, so you can probably guess I have been like... terrified of needles ever since. Doesnt matter what kind of needle it is, I hate them all.I found out I had a few cavities. And im afraid of the needle pinch when I get my cavities filled. So if I get "laughing gas", will I still feel the needle pinch? How much would I feel it?
