my dentist recommend "ORAMD" THE MOUTH DOCTOR. It is a very good toothpaste to fight gingivitis and kill hidden bacteria. Check it out at http://www.oramd.com

Depends on what is needed for the patient and what the dentist prefers. Mostly it is personal preference.
Usually the dentist recommended in those commercials is because the dentist gets free samples and gives them to patients. Er ego dentist recommended.

Our dentist rarely recommends a specific toothpaste, other than sensodyne (or something like it) if you're sensitive. Like most of them, they give patients free samples that were given to them.
What they would really like is if their patients brushed and flossed regularly.

They like the kind that you'll actually use twice a day! They don't care what kind it is as long as you USE it!
