i had the same configuration of braces on for two years because my mom had some issues paying.I am not getting a retainer for a little while, and i was wondering if the having the same teeth postition for two years will kind of act like a retainer?

From my personal experience you should be ok with no retainer but only for a certain time. It took a month or two to get mine after the braces were removed. It was a really bad one that they probably don't make anymore but I never wore it and my teeth went back almost like they were prior to any braces.

yes. They have been holding your teeth in place. You will still need to have a retainer if possible. You must not go forever in the braces it is very dangerous to your teeth. Are you finished? Most ortho offices take the braces off and give you a retainer instead of leaving you in braces in a case of non payment. The only reason they can't stop is if you had extractions of permanenet teeth. If you had no extractions, maybe your family could come up with the cost of debanding and retainers. May be around 600 for everything
