My 5 year old has an appt tomorrow to get one cavity filled and one dug out. I guess the one that needs dug out is really close to the nerve. I myself have never had a cavity, and have no idea what they do. The dentist said they numb her, which I have had done (didn't care too much for it) but the whole digging one out, will it hurt?

Not a big garlic eater or anything like that. Even after brushing teeth... breath really stinks after about five minutes.

Any ideas on the cause or cure?

When I went to the dentist he put in white fillings to cover the dark brown ugly decay that showed in the front of my mouth when I spoke or smiled. Now I'm noticing a two-tone color on each tooth. The bottom of my teeth are white (where the dentist filled the decay) and the top of the teeth are my natural color ....quite yellow. The white part of the filling does looks nice - but you see the filling line. Is it possible for me to bleach my natural teeth to match the fillings? Has anyone tried BriteSmiles? Has anyone had this happen? Can this be done? Please help. Thanks!

I am getting my braces off in 10 days and I wanted to know what color retainer I should get. My orthodontist doesn't offer sparkly retainers, ones with stickers, or the clear invisiline ones. My favorite color is pink but my sister has pink and I don't want to get ours mixed up. I have heard that colors like blue and purple are very noticable...is this true? Thanks for any input!

And I dont mean the kids bubblegum one. Just the regular toothpaste in the pump. If so, where can I find it?

I am getting my braces off in 10 days. I've had them on for 3 years and I was wondering if they hurt to get off. Also, leave any additional information that I should know about getting them off. Thanks!

I know simply by brushing it won't make the hole go away. But if I brush it a lot and use mouth wash will it help it get better?

I have heard several people talking about brushing their teeth at the orthodontists (on the day they get their braces off). So that day is on Friday, and i'm wondering, do i have to bring my own toothbrush? Or do I have to bring a toothbrush at all?

Thanks
xx

I had braces fitted only 2 weeks ago! Last Tuesday one of my brackets came unstuck and so I went to the ortodontist on Friday to have him stick it back on. I have now just noticed that another bracket has come unstuck meaning I am going to have to go back again! Can someone tell me if this is common for brackets to routinely come loose. Also will the orthodontist end up charging me for re-sticking brackets back on if they continuously come loose? I know that they charge you if you continuously break the brace.

I am taking good care of my braces and I don't understand why in the space of two weeks I have had two brackets come loose: I am only eating soft foods, and am breaking the food up into little pieces and eating with my back teeth.

P.S. Because I am an adult I am paying the full cost for my treatment. Also I would prefer answers from people in th UK since it may be different in US.

Thank you

I have heard that you can get uneven whitening by using them. Also, my teeth are not really stained that much. I don't drink coffee. Would they still work?

Does anybody know about those lights for whitening that you can buy at Wal Mart. What about whitening toothpaste?

I had a tooth pulled out saturday, it was a pretty long extraction, because the tooth did not want to come out. The dentist kept digging into the gums, and wiggling the tooth for at least 20 mins, Than she had to drill the tooth into 3 parts, and pull it out that way. She than did a xray to see if all the tooth was out, and stiched me up. Well it is now monday afternoon, and I get sharp pains in their sometimes, and sometimes they come when I talk, so it hurts to talk sometimes. Is this normal? The sticthes are loose, but they are the disolvable kind. Please help???

Ok, my little boy has 3-4 tiny white spots on his bottom gums, they don't seem to be painful but he has been putting his fingers in his mouth a lot lately. He already has all his teeth. I clean his teeth three times a day, but the thing is still there... could this be some kind of infection? The spots have been there for almost 2 weeks. Thank you!...

For several years, I have worn a hard plastic night guard on my top teeth for grinding while I sleep. I just went to a new dentist and he only makes soft plastic ones for bottom teeth. I want to know if one kind is better than the other and why?

My big concern is that a bottom one will push against my top teeth and cause them to shift since it will be an extra layer between my top and bottom teeth.

Specifically what could an average person (a farmer in the midwest for example) do about it. I guess an extension of this question is when did dental care become available to the average American.
