It is controlled - typically you get 80% nitrous and 20% oxygen. Never 100% nitrous. You body feels tingly all over and it feels like your floating. You can also hear distant audible sounds. Makes you really relaxed and care-free while you are inhaling it. About 5 min after the treatment is done, you feel back to your normal self. You are placed back on pure oxygen for those last 5 min or so.

I felt "buzzy" all over, like after a long car ride when you turn the engine off. I was still terrified, and the tingling was the only difference I felt, but then again, I was 11 and they were going to knock me out to pull 7 baby teeth. I think that normally I would've calmed down, but not for that...

I was given nitrous oxide when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I was out pretty quickly, but I do remember the uncontrollable urge to laugh out loud. It was actually a very good feeling.

I've had it a few times at the dentist and it was just relaxing. It did make me a bit nauseous though, but that may also have been due to me not eating prior to my appt (nerves).

I've never had any problems with it and haven't had it in years but was glad it was available when I was quite anxious and needed it.

You feel light headed, sometimes experiencing short blackouts. You loose the sense of your body. Sometimes it results in uncontrollable laughing. Causes slurred speech.

It is a depressant, so it is actually depressing your central nervous system.

Light headed, giggly. It is controlled, I believe it is illegal for a person to have a large amount of it, but I know you can buy it because people use it to make whip cream (hence whippet).
