I am getting my braces off in 10 days. I've had them on for 3 years and I was wondering if they hurt to get off. Also, leave any additional information that I should know about getting them off. Thanks!

No, although it can feel a little tight when they're removing them.

It does feel weird at first to have them off, your tongue gets so used to the brackets and wires. I had them for 6 years!

It's a wonderful feeling, though, one of the first things I did was bite into an apple!

Congratulations!

Oh, and I'd vote for a blue retainer. (just because mine was, plus it's harder to lose)

No way! It doesn't hurt at all. I had braces for 3 years too. WORD OF ADVICE.......No matter what people say, it is hard to wear your retainer, but WEAR IT ALL THE TIME! My teeth are crooked now and I wish I would have worn my retainer. I think I answered your other question about the color of your retainer. Go w/ a neutral color that's not so noticeable! Congrats! It's an exciting thing!

I had braces for 2 years and I was a little anxious about getting them off, but it just felt almost like a loosening feeling and then it's the weirdest smooth feeling, lol, but it doesn't hurt and you will be happy :-)
As far as retainers, I got purple for the top and my office had a permanent bottom one which I had to request, they didn't offer, lol, I love it, b/c you don't have to worry about losing it, it almost is like a brace {without the brackets,it's smooth} but behind your teeth.

It might be uncomfortable, but the dentist just ripped mine off so easily, I hardly felt a thing. It was unconfortable when he tried to get the caps off of my molars. I think the worst though is when they grind the glue off of your teeth, it feels like biting into freezing ice-cream-I didn't like that part at all! However, it's all worth it in the end, trust me! Good luck!

No way! I just got mine off, and I thought it would kill, but I didn't even know she took them off! All they do is push on your teeth a little, remove the wire, and PRESTO! your braces are off! Oh, but right when you get them off your teeth feel slimy, however that goes away the next day.

It was over 13 years ago when I had them. I don't remember them hurting. I just remember it was uncomfortable when they were scraping the glue off...like nails on a chalkboard.

I asked practically the same questions. Some good answers

Basically, no it doesn't hurt but it is uncomfortable. Your teeth will feel slimey at first and look huge (cuz u haven't seen them whole in a while).

The first few days it hurts almost as much as the first few days you had them on... good luck!

OMG NO! It is SUCH a relief! You get to eat what you want! It feels strange at first, but it doesn't hurt at all.
