I was just perscribed lidocaine and was allergic to it - well - I felt dizzy, nausous, diarra, just icky. I also have this feeling when I go to the dentist. I have been ok with the dentist until 8 years ago when I passed out in the dentist office. And ever since then I am terrified about going to the dentist because of that. Was that a allergic reaction and can you become allergic to lidocaine and the dentist "caine"?

I am a 30 yr old black female who really needs to get a bottom wisdom tooth out asap. It causes me great pain off and on, and was told that it is now lying down horizontally, pushing away out the poor tooth next to it. Furthermore, it is crossing a nerve which if damaged during the extraction could mean "peace out" to the feeling on the left side of my lower lip.
So of course I'm freaking out! I can't imagine going through all this crap; pain b4 surgery, pain during surgery, pain after surgery. All so that I can end up a numb numb for the rest of my life. Hate to sound like a baby, but with all the advancements in todays health industry there's gotta be a way around this! Right??? So listen, any and just about all advice is much appreciated from those of you who have pulled teeth and especially from those of you who pull teeth, in fact even those of you who know people who have pulled teeth or who pull teeth...yes the pain is getting to my head. Anyone know a good surgeon in MTL?

They look for faults in people and inflict pain, then make you pay too much for it!

I had my first dental appointment in 7 or 8 years yesterday (yikes, I know). They didn't find much of anything except that my wisdom teeth need to come out; I've known since I was 13 that they would need to eventually. I made an appointment to have them removed on a Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. I'm 21, a registered nurse, and I live alone. What I'm wondering is how long I need to have someone hanging around with me after getting me home from the office - if it's any substantial amount of time, I may need to reschedule my appointment for a time that's more convenient for another person to stay with me. I know I'll need a ride home and then I'll be groggy, but is it absolutely necessary that I not be alone after that?

I have never had a cavity and my dentist said I had a pit today. I brush at least twice a day, what else can I do to prevent a cavity or is it too late already?

I have never had a cavity in my life before, and have gone to the same dentist in the same town for a long time, now, but my lifelong dentist has now retired, and a new dentist has taken over the practice. The new dentist was there last time I went to the dentist, but just to learn about the patients, and get a feel for the office, but this time, he actually examined my teeth and told me that I had 11 cavities, 9 of which he said were huge. I don't think this is possible. Should I change dentists?

My dentist is a crook. I just moved back home from out of state and had to get a new dentist. My whole family has been going to the same guy for a year. My mom said this is the only dentist she has EVER gone over her max for in her entire life. I went to him anyways.

I just got done with my appointment. He says I have 8 cavities. I'm no dentist, but this is BS. I've never had a cavity in my life. I had my last checkup a year ago and didn't have one cavity.

Bottom line, this guy is a crook and I want to go to someone else. But, if I do, how will my new dentist be able to determine anything? Will I have to pay out of my pocket for new xrays/etc. if I switch?

I haven't had dental insurance in ten years and am a self supporting graduate student. I'm going into the dentist today because I have a cavity that has caused about 1/4 of my tooth to chip off. It doesn't hurt to eat or anything so I don't think its gotten down into the root. Do you think the dentist can just fill this? Its my lower right premolar. I really don't have the money for a crown....

I'm getting a root canal done and the filler stuff fell out. So now I have a gaping hole in my tooth and can't chew on the right side of my mouth until my next appointment. Any suggestions on some easy foods to eat in the meantime?

The dentist said it could be but is not extracting tooth or draining abscess. . .just giving erythromycin which is not effective against CA-MRSA. Our doctor thinks it cannot grow in the mouth. Anyone know for sure?
