Do floride treatments help?
My hus was a preemie and was given LOTS of tetracycline in his first months. He was so early, no one thought he would live. Now, his teeth look terrible and it affects his feelings about the way he looks.
Is he doomed to have rotting teeth like some preemies I've seen?

Is it a good idea and will it make a difference? I've heard that white fillings are supposed to be better than the other amalgam (i think that's the dentistry name for it).

I've read another post on this site, and I have 100% faith with my dentist. I'd only get one done at a time instead of an overhaul. I want to get two of my back teeth done anyway, as I've got a bit of soreness there anyways and I have a feeling there is decay underneath the filling.

Apart from that, I was wondering whether or not other people have to wear mouthguards that they can get from their dentists, as I think that I grind my teeth in my sleep. My father had the same problem, but I don't know if I do. I know grinding causes the filling to crack.

Any help would be most appreciated. Do white fillings last longer than the metal ones?xxx

I am considering a plan that is $100/year, the Aetna Dental Access plan. However, my savings account could cover Oral surgery for wisdom tooth extractions, cleanings, exams, and an occasional cavity (this is work that I will need). Would I be better off to just pay for these with my savings? I know oral surgery will be like $3000 but the plan will only get me like 10-30% discount.

Hello,

For the last few days, it's felt as if my lower, right central incisor has been aching. The lateral incisor next to it just started aching today, but it might have been the lateral incisor all along. I have braces, but I don't think they're the cause.

I looked closely in a mirror and saw a little bit of tartar between the teeth which I scraped off, but I saw no signs of a cavity. I also shined a powerful LED light through the tooth and still saw no indication of a cavity.

The pain is a "sharp" sensation. It doesn't seem to have any particular affiliation with cold or hot foods, nor does it hurt to eat sweet foods. Most of the pain occurs when pushing on it or sucking in. Since it started it's been getting worse, but I'd like to get a second opinion before I set up an appointment with a dentist.

Lastly, does a cavity on a front tooth mean an unsightly filling? How obvious would it look when I smiled? Would it even be noticeable?

Thanks a lot,
Peter

Today at school it was just a normal day, but at 7th hour i yawned and after I closed my mouth i felt extreme pain just behind the right side of my jaw, behind my chin. It felt somewhat hard, and like bubble gum with rocks in it, not as squishy though. I was wondering what was going on, but I opened my mouth as wide as it can, again and the tissue went away. Now it hurts every time I swallow on the big round area above my throat. My right ear and eye is also kind of hurting. I'm kinda worried about this as I have been told by my dentist that I have severe jaw popping.

I don't know what's going on, if it will heal itself or if I need to go to the hospital. Any advice would do! Thanks!

I have a temporary bridge and it is extremly painful. The dentist says nothing is wrong with it and it shouldn't be hurting as bad as I say it is. If you have had a temporary bridge please email me your opinion and rate your pain from 0-10. please.

I don't know why but although my girlfriend brushes her teeth 3-5 times a day, her breath stinks not when she breathes out of her mouth but when she exhales through her nose and it's almost unbearable. I don't know how to tell her or why it would smell so bad. Now that I think of it, stinky sinuses doesn't have anything to do with brushing your teeth. Why would this be happening and how can I tell her without her feeling bad.

part of it has even chipped off beside the filling.

orajel and other things like salt water etc dont work, the only thing that makes it feel better is swishing ice cold water in my mouth, but that's only for 10-20 seconds, then it has to be repeated.

it's been hurting for 2 days and i cant see my dentist for another 2 as she is out of town!! she prescribed T3's and an antibiotic over the phone which i started today, but the T3's don't seem to be doing anything for me and the antibiotic takes days to become effective.

my question is does the constant cold water make it worse because now when i stop it, it hurts 10x more, but i cant stop cause it's the only thing that (temp) heps!
