Just keep rinsing out your mouth and gargling. It will eventually come out.

If you didnt receive a syringe to flush out the sockets, go to the drug store and purchase one. Fill the syringe with water, stick the nozzel of the syringe right down inside the socket and flush the food out. Do not be afraid to do this. I work as an oral surgery assistant and do this all the time. If you cant do this yourself you need to get back to your doctor so he or she can do this. That food be cause an infection and you will start to get a terrible taste in your mouth. It will feel better once they are cleaned out. Feel better !

I think what they said was best, using the syringe, but I just wanted to say that I don't think sucking it out would be a good idea, would it? I mean, they tell you not to use straws after having the surgery for that reason. Unless I'm think of tonsils. But I think they told me after both surgeries not to use straws. You're supposed to avoid suction.

This question's making me cringe...but I would just swish some warm saltwater around the back of my mouth for a few. That would be the gentlest way to get those out.

You should put ice packs on your jaw to help with the swelling. If you can't stand the salt water, just use warm water. You will feel more like yourself in another week.

You should probably call the dentist or oral surgeon for advice. They will know what to do.
