I have a temporary bridge and it is extremly painful. The dentist says nothing is wrong with it and it shouldn't be hurting as bad as I say it is. If you have had a temporary bridge please email me your opinion and rate your pain from 0-10. please.

HELLO,

ONE OF THE BASIC REASONS WHY A TEMPORARY BRIDGE IS OFTEN PAINFUL IS ONE OF SEVERAL:

#1 THERE IS A SMALL GAP BETWEEN THE TOOTH AND BRIDGE, ALLOWING FLUIDS TO PENETRATE AND CAUSE SENSITIVITY,

#2 THE BRIDGE IS TOO HIGH AND EVERY TIME YOU BITE THERE IS PAIN - A SMALL ADJUSTMENT TAKES CARE OF THIS,

#3 THE PREPARATIONS ARE TOO CLOSE TO THE NERVE, THERE IS INSUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF TOOTH STRUCTURE TO PROVIDE A THERMAL BARRIER BETWEEN THE NERVE AND TOOTH. THIS IS THE WORST OF ALL POSSIBILITIES.

I HOPE THE DISCOMFORT IS A SIMPLE THING. YOUR PERMANENT SHOULD BE NOTHING LIKE THIS. GOOD LUCK.
