We went to my four year olds daughters denist apt. yesterday and they said they need to put caps on some of her front teeth I think three. They said they would be the metal on the back and tooth colord on the front. They said they can try to do it in the office under what they called some kind of gas or at the hospital where they can completley knock her out. They seemed to perfer it do it at the hospital even thow they told me how well she set still for the xrays and cleanings. To explain her teeth a little better its her three front teeth on the back of them you can see a little brown spot I guess a small cavity on each of them. From the front you can't even tell she has them. I want to have her teeth fixed if thats whats needed but I am very torn. I really would perfer her not have to be put to sleep in the hospital for this and I wanted to know if anyone has heard of putting caps on a four year olds teeth. Any advice would be great. Also wanted to know what its going to look like.

A silver tooth cap is loose. No, wait. I mean my entire BABY tooth is loose. I'm currently 13 and don't remember when I got the cap. Should I be worried? Or just treat the baby tooth as any regular loose tooth and forget about it?

I have all mine. They aren't a problem. Does decay occur between them and the tooth before them, causing molars to be lost? If so, I'll have them out. My dentist won't do it because I was very unpleasant to his colleague when she said that 5 of my teeth wanted to come out. I was annoyed at the way she said it. The other one has since been removed. Do wisdom teeth cause problems, as his colleague said mine would when they were fully grown? As they have been for over two years now. (Was she just after the money?) I have lost one molar, for a different reason; which was due to bad dental work (a different dentist). Losing one is no problem, but to lose any more could be. Should I have my wisdom teeth taken out?

My friend brushes his teeth 2-3 times a day (sometimes more but never less). He uses a Philips Sonicare toothbrush which is supposed to be gentle on teeth. He also grinds his teeth in his sleep, and uses a mouthguard at night. When he brushes, he does it with his Sonicare for at least 20 minutes, sometimes a lot longer. This time does not include the flossing and rinsing. All in all it is usually at least an hour long ritual. He mostly uses regular instead to whitening toothpaste because it's less harsh on enamel. He claims if he doesn't brush his teeth so long, they become gray. He does also complain sometimes about his teeth being sensitive, and his dentist has reccomended using Sensodyne toothpaste. When you take into account how many times a day he brushes, and for how long, it's about an hour of scrubbing on those teeth daily, when most people spend maybe 10 minutes brushing a day. How can I convince him this is harmful? I need reputable sources.

the toothache is so severe that i have shooting pains in my ear, i can only watch tv or be on the computer for as long as 30 minutes because of the light and i have a headache that is just sitting there. i have had a root canal before and i am suspecting it is the same thing, i cant afford to got to the, dentist right now so i need a pain killer that can sustain it until i can afford one. i am so broke right now i am scared the infection will spread and damage some nerves in my face. i have used Tylenol, Aleve, Excederin, and Ibuprofen but they are ineffective. please help me find a pain killer i cant sleep at night.

When I was at my dentist I had some problems with the anesthetic as it was wearing off too soon. I received 3 of something called ampoules and I was told I cannot be given any more as 6 ampoules is a toxic dose. What does that mean? Can I have problems from that much anesthetic?

I have a crown that is 10 years old. Started to experience extreme sensitivity. He did an x ray and found decay under the crown. Went in today to get the old crown removed and impressions for the new crown. He found more decay than he expected.
The tooth is in the top right and very back of my mouth. He said I should think about either extraction or root canal.
What are the advantages/disadvantage of each?
If I get the root canal can the decay still return at a later date?
How painful is the root canal?
Thanks!!

Dentist did not give any other suggestions on what I can do about the infection in my gums etc. Is there an over the counter rinse I can use or any other treatment option I can do myself to help along with the flossing and brushing?

I had my one and only crown put on in April of 2004. In February of 2006, it popped off for some unknown reason. (I wasn't eating anything hard or overly chewy.) So, the dentist reattached it, and I went on my merry little way.

Well, last night, the little sucker popped off again! I don't want to go back to the original dentist, so I have to wait until Monday to reach another one. Does anyone know of a way to secure this stupid crown safely until then? I am afraid to eat, because I think it is going to pop off again and I am going to swallow the damn thing!

Any advice? Please!

Well i have had my rubber bands for about a month now. About 2 weeks ago my orthodontist put more in my mouth for the right side of my Jaw. It is supposed to expand my top jaw a little bit, but i have ntoiced when i bited down fully, my jaw is not sitting right. The bottom jaw shifts to the left when i bite down, and it does not look alligned. Is this supposed to happen? Or is something wrong?

I have an appointment with him on November 29

A friend of mine has lost his front tooth and there is another wobbly tooth at the front. Apparently he is having a plate made up, which I don't know what that means.. Would it be better to extract the wobbly tooth which is next to the gap and look at the options then. But what are the options for lower tooth replacement?

I am in my late 40's and have never had good teeth. I have constant toothaches and need expensive procedures done. I was quoted at $37,000 to have my teeth straightened etc. I cannot afford this and do not of course have a dental plan. I am missing a number of teeth all of which are molars and back teeth. I can only chew on one side because there are no teeth on the other side, also I will at times choke on my food because it gets stuck in my teeth and I bite the insides of my lips. Its ridiculous and I probably should have done this a long time ago. Please, if you have any wisdom I would like to hear from you. My daughter thinks its a good idea as she attests that its better to have it done now rather than waiting when I'm older. I want to add that I have major bone loss in my mouth and have hashimotos disease(immune disease).

-Wear metal chains such as braces on my teeth for 2 years and maybe get a tetanus shot when my wires are removed.

-Or in one month!! Get all my crooked teeth out and add artificial ones, and it'll look just as good.

pros and cons por favor.
