I had my one and only crown put on in April of 2004. In February of 2006, it popped off for some unknown reason. (I wasn't eating anything hard or overly chewy.) So, the dentist reattached it, and I went on my merry little way.

Well, last night, the little sucker popped off again! I don't want to go back to the original dentist, so I have to wait until Monday to reach another one. Does anyone know of a way to secure this stupid crown safely until then? I am afraid to eat, because I think it is going to pop off again and I am going to swallow the damn thing!

Any advice? Please!

I HATE dental problems! I got my first and only crown about a year ago. My dentist told me that it stays secure anywhere from 3 to 5 years before it has to be replaced/reglued.

I found this on the internet. It says you can temporarily use denture adhesive. Check it out.

I hope you can find a dentist that will adhere it real good this time. There's nothing worse than having dental problems!

Denture cream will hold it until you can get to a dentist, just put a little in the crown and push it on until it seats firmly.
btw if the crown is less than 5 years old, the dentist that did it may guarantee it. It is worth it for you to call and ask. A crown popping off twice usually means a new crown is needed at the very least- worst case scenario--the tooth is split and you will need an extraction and implant.
Hope it's just a re-cement!!!!

I had a crown put on with temporary adhesive, because we were afraid that I might need a root canal. If they permanently attached the crown she would have had to destroy it to get it off so it was put on with temporary glue. It popped off - while I was eating a sugar daddy (der!)

I called and they told me to put a little vaseline in there enough to snuff out the air, and then stick it up in my mouth. It stayed - all weekend long. I didn't eat on that side of my mouth and I put fresh vaseline in there every morning and at night before bed and it stayed put.

Just eat on the other side of your mouth. Also, crowns shouldn't pop off and 2 times is asinine. I would write a letter to the dental board or report him to the BBB, That is not good.

what will work well for you is getting some temporary dental filling material and mixing up a small amount and using it as dental cement inside the crown.
You will need a dentist to make you a new crown where the tooth has been properly adjusted to retain the crown.
Denture cream is not as firm as temporary dental filling material.

It is best to get it treated as soon as possible becuase your gum may get infected if you leave it for to long.
