I have all mine. They aren't a problem. Does decay occur between them and the tooth before them, causing molars to be lost? If so, I'll have them out. My dentist won't do it because I was very unpleasant to his colleague when she said that 5 of my teeth wanted to come out. I was annoyed at the way she said it. The other one has since been removed. Do wisdom teeth cause problems, as his colleague said mine would when they were fully grown? As they have been for over two years now. (Was she just after the money?) I have lost one molar, for a different reason; which was due to bad dental work (a different dentist). Losing one is no problem, but to lose any more could be. Should I have my wisdom teeth taken out?

Hi, One reason why people choose to have their wisdom teeth out because sometimes, when they grow in, they can push all the other teeth forward and case overlapping and overcrowding and some people think this looks unsightly and choose to have them taken out. If your wisdoms are healthy and aren't annoying YOU by overcrowding, then there is no reason why they should be extracted. Hope I helped Karolina x

Really, only a dentist can best determine whether or not wisdom teeth need to come out. Over 3 years ago my dentist said mine needed to be removed, and that was the last time I saw that dentist until just this past July. Oops? Anyway, my wisdom teeth had continued to grow to the point, the bottom 2 were extremely impacted and I have a really small mouth and no room for wisdom teeth. They were just removed by an oral surgeon almost 4 weeks ago.

As others have mentioned, they can be impacted, cause cysts, etc as they are growing. Yours are fully grown so they shouldn't be a problem. My mom has them and hasn't had any problems. Wisdom teeth just cause problems. For me, normally it wouldn't be a problem (all four of mine a growing in right now) but I just had my braces taken off, and my orthodontist said that they all needed to come out, because if they didn't, they could come up (usually they come up awkwardly) and mess up all the work that was done on my teeth with my braces and make my teeth look bad. So for me, it's worth getting my wisdom teeth pulled (although I'm not looking forward to it). Expect to see some questions from me about getting wisdom teeth pulled soon! lol

I'm assuming you're talking about them drugging you so you go to sleep... for me, I was passed out the entire time, didn't feel a thing. When I woke up, I didn't even realize the operation was over, until I discovered wads of cotton inside my mouth and holes where my teeth were. It doesn't matter what you wear that day, although I do agree they probably won't let you bring a blanket. In my case, all I remember is as the surgeon was injecting me, I asked him "How long will it be before I fall asleep?" and he said "It'll be quick." I closed my eyes and don't remember anything after that lol. It's a pretty quick and painless thing, trust me. I did it the other way too, where I was awake and they just numbed the area to remove the teeth, but that hurt so much more! I also ate ice cream afterwards. :) I didn't use any painkillers either, although I never do for anything so I may just be used to it.

Wisdom teeth often do cause problems. In my case, they were impacted, actually turned sideways. They weren't going to surface no matter what. Yet they were pushing my other teeth to make "room" for them to surface. My mouth could not accomodate this without making my other teeth misalligned or crooked, etc. An oral surgeon removed all 4 at once, which was a bit complicated as I understand it (I was unconcious) because of how they were positioned.

You may or may not need to get them taken out. Make sure you truth who your dentist is. I've been lucky to have the right dentist at the right times.

Good luck to ya.

You must have a really big mouth!! j/k If they aren't a problem leave them in.
Most people don't have enough room and therefore have to get them removed. I was born without 3 of my 12 year molars and all my Wisdom teeth. I feel kind of jipped, because I think if I would have had my Wisdom teeth I'd be smarter!

I had two removed, as well as both my eye teeth at the same time, because i needed braces and my jaw was too small (i had an overbite) the other 2 were surgically removed because they were impacted.

If you get a root canal in a wisdom tooth, it may be cheaper to just have it pulled.

I have a small mouth and before I got braces I had four adult teeth taken out. This past January I had seven, yes seven, wisdom teeth removed. They were messing up my teeth and had they continured to come out, they would have eventually made my mouth hurt. It's better to have them taken out. If you don't believe your dentist, get a second opinion.

i had my wisdom tooth taken out on account it was so close to the jaw bone and had a cyst round it. the operation took place in hospital and the jaw was so thin it resulted in my jaw being broken. i spent 6 weeks with braces on my teeth and have a pin and plate in my jaw. however if i had not have had it taken out it could have fractured by chomping on an apple.
take the advice of the dentist.

They can crowd the other teeth and push them to be crooked.

I would say yes.

Get a new dentist and ask his opinion. But very few people are allowed to keep their wisdom teeth.
