YOU CAN HAVE THE FIRST DENTISTB SEND COPIES OF YOUR X-RAYS TO THE SECOND. THIS IS COMMONPLACE. SINCE IT HASN'T BEEN THAT LONG, THE X-RAYS ARE STILL GOOD. THERE IS NO NEED TO REPEAT THE X-RAYS OVER AGAIN.

You can ask for copies of the xrays that were taken and get a second opinion consultation at another dental office.

An implant is not your only alternative. You could have a 3-unit bridge placed there, and it will probably be less expensive than the implant fee.

Alot of people, especiall those without insurance, 'shop' around for the best deals as far as dental treatment is concerned. Don't feel bad or be embarrassed about it.

Best of luck to you~

1. You can always get a copy of the x-rays from the first dentist. While there's often a duplication charge, it beats being over-exposed to the x-rays and becoming one of the Fantastic Four.
2. A good second option (instead of implants) is a fixed bridge. Much cheaper and less invasive.

You can ask your dentist to send your x-rays to another
dentist for a 2nd opinion, or you can ask them for a copy of
them for yourself. But they don't have to give them to you
if you owe them any money. Or your 2nd dentist can just
take new x-rays, but your insurance probably won't pay for them, if you have insurance. From a health standpoint, you
want to take as few x-rays as possible, but the radiation you
get is quite low anyway, so it won't be a big deal if they use
a lead shield.

if you have any gum recession, thechnically you have periodontic disease. You must get a depp cleaning and root planing to get any calculite and other crap that is between your gums and your teeth. otherwise more junk will collect and make the pockets bigger. How this works is that in your blood there is something calle lymphocytes. They are sent into the space between the tooth and the gum to kill bacteria. This in turn drains down thru your gums into your mouth. Dont panic this is how the body works. the problem is , when the gum recedes and is not slam titie against the tooth, the lymphocytes interpret the bone that your tooth is mounted in to be a foreigh substance and starts destriying that. Then the pockets get even bihgger. Go for a periodontil cleaning and then get the prognosis from a professional as to how to arrest your paticular condition.
