For about a month and a half now I have had pain in the back of my mouth and throat when I swallow, yawn or spit out the toothpaste when i brush my teeth. have gone to my doctor and he didn't give me much of an answer. not even to suggest what was going on. but he did refer me to an oral surgeon. my appointment is in about 2 weeks. i am just wondering if this is an infection in my salivary gland, or a gland stone. has anyone had similar problems?

i don't have any inflammation in the tonsil area. it feels like there's a lump under my tongue but way in the back. when i look in my mouth in the mirror, my tongue the back of my tongue sits higher on the side with pain than it does on the other side.

Salivary Gland problem, how do you know? May be a troath infection. You will get pain when you eat, because when the saliva wants to come out & is obstructed, it will cause tenssion.

hi , if iam right u r referring to the throat that is the pharynx and tonsil area , any inflammation of the tonsil or pharynx due to infection may presnt as pain in that area and difficulty in swallowing , talking about the salivary glands threre are three major ones , one near the ear , two in the floor of the mouth , your problem doesnt seem to be in those areas so its likley not salivary gland probs.
