I'm only 25 years old and it's affecting my self esteem. I don't want to go out and socialize. I want my smile back, but can't figure out whether vaneers, bonding, crowns, etc. are right for me and don't know the differences in price. Anyone?

I am a student at Michigan State University and I am really looking into getting braces. I have had braces before when I was 14 but my wisdom teeth have pushed all my teeth back into their jumbled state. I really don't want the clunky metal braces again, I would prefer Invisiline or Invisalign. I'm pretty sure I'll have medicaid pretty soon, and I'm also pretty sure they won't cover a dime. What are some affordable options to get these braces since I am on a tight budget, being that I am in college and my family is bankrupt. I pay for my college myself with grants, scholarships, and loans. I'm willing to pay whatever the price may be, but would obviously want to find the most affordable option.

For a while Ive had some jaw pain on the top & bottom jaws, Mostly my bottom lower left jaw. I knew it was a wisdom tooth and a cracked tooth i had so I had them removed, and soon after the pain in that area went away. Now my top jaws hurt, I know its my wisdom teeth. My gums & the middle of my teeth hurt & I get ear pain.
Last night I had a pain on the side of my right eye (over the bone) I even woke up in the middle of the night because the pain on my right jaw with the migraine was too much. The only way to get lessen the pain was excedrin and a heating pad. I was told by the dentist that all my wisdom teeth were impacted, but right now I dont have the 600 to pull them out. My question is:
Is there any effective way to lessen the pain? I heard it could be teeth grinding while I sleep (i wake up w/ jaw pain too) & was thinking of getting a mouth guard at walmart for the time being but am strapped for money (does it work?)
I dont want a heating pad attached to my face 24/7 lol
TY

I'm sure this has been asked a million times over but I'm just so annoyed right now. For personal reasons, I have no dental insurance so I'm paying out of pocket for whatever I choose. I went to the dentist today because for months I've been having a toothache that I *thought* were wisdom teeth coming in. I had my wisdom teeth taken out only to realize it's a freaking cavity that's now reached the root. So the options given to me were to have the tooth extracted which would only be a bit over $100 or to have a root canal and crown, which is over $2,000. I can't pay for the root canal but I'm not sure if I want to lose my tooth. It's sounds stupid, I know.

Should I just have the tooth taken out because it's cheapest? It's the back tooth, last before the wisdom teeth. Would it be bad to have it out?

I hate the stupid health care in this country. U. S. of freaking A. whatever.

Thanks in advance for all helpful and respectful replies.

I haven't been to a dentist in a very long time since I don't have insurance I just kept putting it off...I decided to get a checkup this month and had dental x-rays taken. Well I really didn't like the dentist office I went to, so I decided to go another dentist office about a week later. The other dentist I went to took dental x-rays as well. I need a root canal and both dentists were charging amounts I couldn't afford, so I decided to look for dental insurance. I have qualified for dental insurance beginning next month, but it's HMO so I have to go to another dentist...which happens to do digital x-rays only. Now I'm afraid that too many x-rays within a short period of time might be harmful. I just read an article on msn about new studies show that x-rays causes cancer in the future. I'm not sure what to do...or if dental x-rays are not that harmful... anyone know??

I have puffing gums, and my dentist said i need to floss more. But another dentist said it's not about flossing, but its about brushing at the right angle. My gums are very swollen and do not bleed that much when I brush, nor do they hurt. I also have braces. I brush for a long time (Over 5 minutes each brush time which is 2 times a day) and I brush my gums. I use mouthwash, but I do not floss very often. I also have braces. Please tell me what this is called and how I can solve it.

I have a 13 year old Dachshund mix that currently seems to have an infected tooth in the back of her mouth. She's had dental problems in the past, so I've already got a prescription antibiotics for her teeth problems; they're called Clavamox. My vet just let me pick those up.

Since the tooth is already infected enough to make the side of her face swell a bit, would this antibiotic help?

I'm avoiding taking her to the vet.... as there's nothing they can do if she needs a tooth extraction; she's got a heart murmer and they refuse to use anesthesia because of it. There's truly no good reason for me to take her to the vet, I know if I take her, I'll have to put her to sleep.

So its been a long time, about 4 years since getting my teeth cleaned and now that I have insurance I decided to finally get it done. The dental hygienist was checking my teeth and told me I needed to floss more often. Then she took a little hook looking thingy with a really sharp end and started scraping the ends of my gum. It hurt like crazy!!! Not to mention all the blood I was tasting and seeing on her glove. And thats ALL she did!! From what I remember in the past, they used flouride trays to clean my teeth and polish. Isn't that what they're suppose to do?? Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't ever want to get my teeth cleaned!! That was couple days ago and it still bleeds and hurts when I brush my teeth. I never thought getting your teeth cleaned would be a painful experience. Is this normal???

I was told by an orthodontist that I have to get 4 pre molers removed for braces but what I want to know is that can i have a palatel expander put in my mouth, so that I do not have to have the 4 teeth taken out?

Would it then make my mouth bigger?

Would my face structure change.
