Yes, this is a true comment made by your hygienist. Having a tongue pierce can also affect the alignment of your teeth. The same thing happened to my daughter. She has since then, removed her tongue piercing. I hope that this helps.

You can have a tongue ring without having gum recession. Brush your teeth with baking soda and remove the ring before you do. You will be fine!

You should trust the word of your dentist. Yes, it's true...even though sadly I have a tongue ring as well..no problems though.

Could be... i used to have one and i tended to rub the ball on the bottom along the back of my teeth around the gum line.

yes it does. You will also start to wear the enamel behind those teeth. Tongue rings aren't good for you dental health.

I think gum recession has to do with aging. It begins in the mid twenties and slowly receeds because your gums shrink with age like your bones and the rest of your body.

I don't see why she would tell you that if it wasn't so. You can "strengthen" your gums by flossing every day to keep them healthy. I don't think that will plump them up, though. Use a soft tooth brush and brush thoroughly for 2 minutes at least twice a day--in the a.m. and just before bed.

Yes, that sounds right. My dentist has brochures that show exactly that. Remove the piercing, and you can stop it from getting any worse.

Yes, the stud just pushes your gums down in that area. I've had it too. Since it's minor, you have nothing to worry about. Just keep your eye on it.
