I have a 13 year old Dachshund mix that currently seems to have an infected tooth in the back of her mouth. She's had dental problems in the past, so I've already got a prescription antibiotics for her teeth problems; they're called Clavamox. My vet just let me pick those up.

Since the tooth is already infected enough to make the side of her face swell a bit, would this antibiotic help?

I'm avoiding taking her to the vet.... as there's nothing they can do if she needs a tooth extraction; she's got a heart murmer and they refuse to use anesthesia because of it. There's truly no good reason for me to take her to the vet, I know if I take her, I'll have to put her to sleep.

The antibiotic may work in the short term but more than likely the tooth will probably have to come out.
You should try to find another vet experienced in dealing with dogs with heart problems. They may be able to fine tune the anesthesia to remove the tooth.
Maybe a University vet hospital.
