Ok.....so I guess I grind my teeth while I am sleeping and when I wake up in the morning my mouth is locked where I can barely open it. I can usually get it to pop when I chew gum or something but this time it ain't working. My jaw has been locked all day long. I can still eat and talk and stuff its just it hurts when I try to open my mouth wide enough to like eat a sandwich or something. Please help!! Also if yall could help me to figure out a way to stop grinding my teeth at night that would be great!! p.s I have tried the night guards but they don't stay in my mouth all night long!!

Do you think my major headaches are caused by my teeth grinding?

OK, I have no idea what they're called, but some dentists have these electrode things they stick to your face and they deliver shocks of electricity for like half an hour or whatever (it doesn't hurt and there's different levels). It helps to relax your muscles and it really helps my jaw when it is soar. I'm not sure if it will "unpop" your jaw, but I'm assuming it would.

Have you got the nightguards from the dentist or just a pharmacy? Try getting one fitted for your teeth...it'll likely work better. If this doesn't work, talk to your dentist about some more options. I'm assuming it probably isn't good for your jaw muscles or cartilage or whatever for this to keep happening, so you should probably get something done before it gets any worse.

The electrode ething is called a "TENS Unit". I have one for patients who come get their teeth cleaned and have TMJ.

Now I would really suggest you make an appointment with a TMJ specialist because they can actually diagnose what the problem is. It could be related to the joint capsule (the cushion), to your bone level or to any of the three major muscles that hold your Jaw in place.

Have you been unusually stressed? It can make all the difference as well.

I have this problem and the Dentist told me to place my tounge above my upper teeth gum-line inside my mouth and pull the lower jaw back and push with my tounge on the upper area right above my teeth, and this pops my jaw back into place.

I have seen someone on Dr. 90210 get botox to relax their jaw.

I wear a night gaurd at from the Dentist, and I have it tightened every few weeks! It does get loose.

What you have is called TMJ.
Yes, it does cause headaches.
