I am looking to buy a cooking appliance for my apartment. I have a stove and a oven, but a lot of days I am too tired to mess with them and I end up eating out. I've put on some weight and I know it's because of my poor diet, so I'm looking for alternatives.

The George Foreman grill would be perfect but the non-stick surface has been known to be lethal to pet birds (and I have one that I think of as a son).

Any recommendations? I cook a lot of chicken and fish. I'm looking at toaster ovens and that sort of thing, but are there any "do it all" machines like the GF grill?

Be careful when going to epicurious.com. I went there yesterday and my computer was attacked! They have some kind of REALLY aggressive advertising software that defeated my popup blocker and started trying to take over my computer. The only way I could get it to stop was by hiting the power switch and forcing a reboot.

I know lots of foodies hang out there (I do) and just wanted to give you a heads up.

When cooking a full roast chicken or turkey, how long does it take to roast in a normal oven and how do you add flavours to the skin? Also, how do you make stuffing and how do you actually stuff the chicken or turkey? I'm pretty clueless about this, as you can tell!

I've got some chicken breasts in some garlic herb marinade in the fridge - gonna cook on the charcoal grill this evening, but I'm stuck on sides.

I've thought about grilled squash & onions, mashed potatos & grilled corn. I also have some cucumber salad in the fridge. Any suggestions on what might be better sides?

I've got rice, baked beans, pinto beans, peas, green beans, carrots, onions, tomatos, garlic etc at the house.......

Thanks

Has anybody ever heard of a Scotch Egg? I had one in
a little (largely German populated) town and it was great.
But that was the only time and place I've ever seen or
heard of one. How do you make them?

In a saucepan combine the milk, cream, and 1/2 cup sugar over medium heat. Cook until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl whip the egg yolks with the remaining sugar using an electric mixer until the eggs have become thick and pale yellow, about 4 minutes. Pour 1/2 cup of the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture and stir. Add this mixture back into the saucepan. Cook over very low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon, about 7 to 10 minutes.

Place a strainer over a medium bowl and pour the warm custard mixture through the strainer. Stir in the vanilla and hazelnut spread until it dissolves. Chill mixture completely before

i dont get the part where it says "in a medium bowl whip the egg yolks with the remaining sugar using an electric mixer until the eggs have become thick and pale yellow, about 4 minutes. Pour 1/2 cup of the warm milk and cream mixture into the egg mixture"

I want to make some sun tea. What are some good recipes? I like green and black tea. I think herbal teas would be tasty too. How long should it be in the sun and how much sugar per cup?
THANKS!

Aside from hamburgers and brats on the grill, what is your favorite summer meal? I hate to turn the oven on in the summer, but looking for new ideas that my picky family will eat.

A friend has asked me to look on the 'net and I know I have seen the perfect recepie before somewhere but cannot find it now. It is not a vegan requirement. It is due to an egg allergy. Or any nice choci cakes without eggs. I have found a basic one but it is for a special occassion. Thank You....x
