I can give you a family recipe for a very simple pound cake that tastes very homemade. One yellow cake mix 1 pkg french vanilla instant pudding,1 tsp. vanilla, 3/4 c. water, 4 beaten eggs and 3/4 c. vegetable oil. Beat the eggs, vanilla, oil and water together with electric mixer. Slowly beat in the cake mix. Pour the mixture into a greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes. During the holidays I kick it up a notch by leaving the water out and adding either a 3/4c. of sherry or rum and a tsp of nutmeg. It will be a hit whoever you serve it too. You can drizzle a thin cream cheese or a cinnamon based icing over the top. Or for chocolate lovers you can put a chocolate glaze. It's awesome just by itself too. ENJOY!

You want Vanilla? Here ya go!
Note: SIFT all dry ingredients.

DOUBLE-Vanilla Pound Cake

Ingredients:
Butter (for the pan)
All-purpose flour (for sprinkling)
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cake flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 pound ( 2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2 2/3 cups superfine sugar
6 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Seed scrapings from 1 small, pliant vanilla bean
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons heavy cream
Confectioners' sugar (for sprinkling)

Prep:
1. Set the oven at 325 degrees. Lightly butter a plain 10-inch tube pan. Cut a circle of parchment paper to fit the bottom of the pan, press it in place, then butter the paper. Dust the pan with flour, tapping out the excess.
2. In a large bowl, sift the all-purpose and cake flours, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg twice.
3. In an electric mixer, cream the utter on medium speed for 4 Notes: minutes. Add the sugar in 3 additions, beating for 1 full minute after each portion. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating for 30 seconds after each one. Blend in the vanilla extract and vanilla bean seeds.
4. With the mixer set on low speed, alternately add the flour mixture and the sour cream to the batter in three additions, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Scrape down the sides of mixing bowl often.
5. Add the cream and beat for 30 seconds more. Spoon the batter into the pan. Lightly smooth the top with a rubber spatula.
6. Bake the cake for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake is clean when withdrawn. The baked cake will pull away slightly from the sides of the pan. Cool the cake in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Carefully invert onto another cooling rack. Peel away and discard the parchment paper. Set the cake right-side up. Leave to cool completely. Dust the top with confectioners' sugar.

This is the recipe I use, and LOVE IT. Every time I make it I receive compliments. You can change the extract flavorings to change the flavor of the cake. I've gone as far as to change the cake mix used (chocolate fudge) to make a Chocolate pound cake. If you want just a vanilla pound cake, I would suggest doubling the vanilla extract, and leave out the lemon. In fact, I never use lemon, but orange instead to give it a hint of an orange flavor. But I'm not much of a lemon person anyway.

Also, I bake mine in a bundt cake pan. It will be plenty for 6 people.

Good Luck, and hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think if you use it.

No Fail Pound Cake

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
2/3 cup water
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix (I use butter cake mix)
1 cup all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla and lemon extract. Beat in water and sour cream. Beat in the cake mix and flour. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely
