I want to bake peach crisp in the morning to take to my mother and others in her nursing home. Do you think flour, corn starch or quick tapioca makes a better thickening agent for peach crisp? We like our topping and other flavors (almond extract instead of vanilla or lemon juice), but I'm undecided on the thickening agent.

Thanks in advance.

My husband and I are buying a house and so it's THAT time to plan budgeting! What are some ideas for dinners that cost less than $10 for the entire meal? I am interested in anything that is NOT duck, lamb, ribs, veal or deer. I will choose my best answer based on which idea I don't already have...or which one is most original based on my above criteria. Also, any type of cuisine is acceptable as long as it doesn't have the above meats!

I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about but when you go to a restaurant and you order their house dressing. It's red and thicker then normal salad dressings. if you have a recipe or know where I can find a recipe it would be awesome.

It's not that I don't try, I simply have no idea.

I cooked 'Cool Blue Doritoes' with onion and cheese on jacket potatoes.

The dame thing tasted bad before I even started but the wife and I have put it in another room (in the bin) cause its awful.

I love my little lady and do a mean garlic chicken that our cats love (we have no idea what it tastes like though, we're not that brave).

Please, is there some way I can either learn how to cook or be put down before I hurt someone?

I spent 2 weeks in bed with Lactobasillie something and it really hurt, and that was simply through prepareing the food as neither of us ate it.

Hellllppppp!!!!!

I mean, what vegetable dish did you make that made a picky eater eat it? Today i made purple cabbage and green cabbage cole slaw with apple cider vinegar and no mayo. My bro who never eats veggies ate it with delight, i think because of the colors and the lack of mayo which distorts the color, and its healthier without it, only you have to let it sit for 20 min to let the cider ferment a little.

Ok first attempt at baking a cake today.

I put it in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees (gas mark 5)
instead of 30 min stated in the reciepe, i used a 24cm round tin, when i took it out i should have knifed the middle before i took it out i know but i thought it had been in long enough at 40 minutes considering it states only 30 minutes to cook it.

The outside was cooked and was solid and i did not want a dry cake, yet when i turned it out it collasped to a sloppy mess as the middle was not cooked and it looked like it could have done with at least another 20 minutes!?!

What did i do wrong, the mixture was fairly solid
before i put it into the cake tin, it was not runny or
anything, in fact i had to scoop most of it into the
tin out of the bowl as it was not runny?

Do i need to bake it longer than the 30 minutes thought at the same time i want to avoid a dry cake?

Or is it because i am a male :-)
