My Mum wrote to the foil company years ago and they said it didn`t matter which side you used, it was just the process of manufacture that makes one side shinier than the other.

For aluminum foil, it does NOT matter which side you use to heat or store. The manufacturing process creates a shiny side and a dull side.

I just use the foil as it comes off the roll, not worring about shiny side in or out.

Everyone is saying shiny side out. Well, my hubby has to keep being reminded "SHINY SIDE IN". That is because the shiny side reflects the heat, so you need to reflect it into the food, not out into the oven. Hope this helps. Have a star cause it's a really good question. x

I was told years ago that the shiny side should be in. If the shiny side is out it reflects the heat during cooking.

You wrap the food any side doesn't matters man but everyone wraps the food shiny side out so its better you too go with it ....i too do the same

I do shiny side out I think I read somewhere it doesn't really matter if that is so why the two different sides of color. I still do shiny side out or facing up.

Shiny side in because heat reflect back into the food and therefore cooks faster and with less energy.
