Ok, here's how I would proceed:

1. Marinate your shrimp in Italian dressing for at least an hour. Saute quickly until pink and remove from heat.
2. Heat your sauce and boil your pasta according to package directions.
3. Place pasta on serving dish. Top with sauce. Top with shrimp. Top with shredded cheese.

Yum!

Sautee the shrimp seperately, or you're sure to overcook it. Set aside.

Boil the pasta. While pasta boils, simmer the alfredo sauce in a wide sautee pan. When the pasta is almost done, use a coffee mug to scoop out some of the pasta water, then drain the pasta. Add the pasta to the alfredo pan and continue to cook the pasta in the sauce for a couple of minutes. Add cooked shrimp at the last minute just to heat through.

If the sauce gets too thick, add a little bit of the pasta water.

Italians like to prepare pasta by finishing it with a couple minute's cooking time in the sauce (in a sautee pan. The pasta absorbs more of the flavor that way.

If they're raw shrimp, then cook them separately and set aside. I'd plate the pasta first, then the alfredo, then the shrimp on top. If the shrimp is already cooked from the store, then I'd toss it in the alfredo just to heat it up a bit and serve that over the pasta. Just sprinkle with chopped parsley or cilantro and sprinkle with cheese and it'll look great!
