I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about but when you go to a restaurant and you order their house dressing. It's red and thicker then normal salad dressings. if you have a recipe or know where I can find a recipe it would be awesome.

I can post a few for you but there's no way to know what different places put into their House dressing. Since it is called "House" that means that it is a specialty of the house or that particular restaurant, so they are all different.

BRASS DOOR HOUSE DRESSING

1 1/4 c. mayo
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/4 c. honey
1/4 c. prepared yellow mustard
3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp. chopped parsley
1 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. curry powder
2 green onions, chopped

Thoroughly combine all ingredients. Chill

HOUSE SALAD DRESSING

1 c. tomato soup
1/2 c. oil
3/4 c. vinegar
1/2 tsp. each salt, paprika, and pepper
1 tsp. mustard
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 sm. onion
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic salt

Blend all together well with mixer or blender. Store in glass container.

HUBBELL HOUSE DRESSING

1 c. tomato soup
2/3 c. oil
1/2 c. catsup
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 clove garlic
1 sm. onion
Juice of 1 lemon (1/4 c. juice)
1/4 c. tarragon vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. paprika
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. mayonnaise

Beat all ingredients well or use blender.

House dressings vary at every single restaurant. Some dont' have one (like Outback or Chili's) and other just make Caesar or Creamy Itlalian their house dressing. But some propriietors make their own house dressing, and take pride in it.

So I have no idea which one you mean.... if it's red, sounds like a Catalina or French, or maybe one of those tomato-based Italian types.

Every place is going to have their own house dressing. The red one you like is special to that one place. House dressings will vary from place to place. The house dressing at Olive Garden, for instance, is a take on basic Italian oil and vinegar.
